Great Technology + Incredible Staff = Great Rural Healthcare

General Surgeon Dr. Maria Palafox has been at our Beeville hospital for two years. With over 500 robotic cases under her belt, she calls our Beeville hospital blessed to have licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) who have cross-trained as surgical technologists and also serve as first assistants. According to Dr. Palafox, in larger cities like San Antonio, robotic surgeries are not allowed without a first assistant, a role that requires more education than a certified surgical technologist. But our LVNs were willing to take on the extra responsibility and additional training, giving patients in our rural community access to advanced care close to home rather than waiting days for a transfer to a larger facility. We, like Dr. Palafox, are grateful to our entire staff, who are willing to go above and beyond to make this level of care possible for our entire community.

We have achieved a remarkable milestone in stroke care, setting a new record with a door-to-needle time of just 14 minutes! That means when a stroke patient arrives at our hospital in Beaumont, lifesaving medication can be administered in as little as 14 minutes, improving the chances of recovery and reducing the risk of long-term disability. With the teamwork and coordination of our emergency department, stroke specialists, pharmacy, laboratory, and imaging teams, we can continue to provide integrated and reliable stroke care in Southeast Texas.
