Thanks to the Zumba folks and Oil Well Craft Beer this morning more than 100 toys were added to the Ave Vets toy drive. You can still come down until 5 to make a donation or pick up a brat, burger or hot dog outside.

On Veterans Day (November 11th) the Ave Maria Veterans Association will honor a community Veteran of the Year.
The deadline for nominations is tomorrow (October 1). The Veteran of the Year Award recognizes an Ave Maria resident who has distinguished themselves through outstanding service to the community. Nominees do not need to be a member of a veterans organization but must be a veteran and show proof that they have served in the military. In order to be eligible for the award nominated individuals:
Must be a resident of Ave Maria at least 7 months of the year;

Must have served honorably in one of the U.S. armed service branches (including the Coast Guard) either/or on active duty or in the reserve component and received an honorable discharge.

Has not received the award in the previous 10 years.

The award is based on documented acts of selfless service. Selfless service consists of deeds and actions on behalf of others and going the “extra mile” beyond in their post military career.

Examples of activities they are involved in may include the following, but are not exclusive to these:
-Participation in veteran organizations
-Regular acts of kindness and caring for others
-Hospital, home, and shut-in visitations
-Volunteer chaplaincy
-Advocacy for veterans and their families
-Community service and projects
-Charity work
-Youth program volunteer

Time is approaching for the 4th annual Ave Maria Vets golf scramble. This 4 person scramble will be held the morning of December 13th at Panther Run Golf Course with a lunch to follow. Your entry fee of $125 gets you golf, use of a cart, opportunities for on-course prizes, a gift bag of goodies and a fried chicken lunch at the Rusty Putter. Enter early before the spots fill up! Ave Maria Veteran of the Year 2024

As mentioned in a recent issue of Ave Maria Neighbors magazine, the Ave Maria
Veterans Association wishes to recognize a veteran for service to the greater community. The selected veteran will be recognized during Veterans Day ceremonies on November 11th and will receive a paver at the Ave Maria Veterans Monument.

The Ave Maria Veterans Association is still taking orders for pavers at the Veterans Monument. Honor a veteran, a family member or have a business show support for the effort by purchasing a paver. Pavers are $250 and typically take 6-8 weeks from order to placement so order now to make sure it is in by November 11th.
