A recent study suggests that various chemical ingredients in sunscreens show measurable serum levels after application to skin. The American Academy of Dermatology has published a position suggesting that “more research is needed before it can be determined if the absorption of sunscreen ingredients has any effects on a person’s health.” In the mean time choose physical sunscreens with Zinc oxide or Titanium dioxide, use sun protective clothing, sunglasses, and seek shade whenever possible.
