Tropical Storm Edouard is expected to make landfall near Sabine Pass around 1:00 p.m. today. For Galveston County, the greatest concern remains the potential for heavy rainfall, with 2–5 inches possible.

The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Edouard and will continue to track any changes in the forecast.

Please stay informed and monitor the latest weather updates, especially this afternoon and evening. The system is expected to move out of our area tomorrow.

Tropical Depression Two has developed in the northeastern Gulf of America and is expected to become a tropical storm as it tracks west toward Southeast Texas. Forecasts indicate a possible impact to our area late Thursday or Friday.

While details on the storm’s path and strength are still uncertain, reconnaissance flights beginning soon will provide more clarity in the coming days.

With hurricane season in full swing, now is the time to prepare. This current system we are watching is a reminder not to wait until the last minute—build or restock your emergency kit, review your plan, and stay connected to reliable information sources.

Galveston County Office of Emergency Management is working closely with the US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas to monitor Tropical Depression Two and will continue providing timely updates.

🦟 West Nile Virus Detected in Galveston County

GCHD has confirmed the first West Nile virus-positive mosquito pool of the season in the far northern area of Friendswood near the Brazoria County line.

There are no reported human cases or positive sentinel animals in Galveston County.

Help protect yourself by:
✔️ Using insect repellent
✔️ Wearing long sleeves and pants at dawn and dusk
✔️ Draining standing water around your home
