Join us this Thursday for our monthly food distribution! It starts at 4 PM and may start earlier if we are ready to go. Volunteer shifts vary and are as follows: setup (2-4PM), distribution (4-5:30PM*) and cleanup (5:30-?*) You can show up during any of the shifts here. Spread the word and we will see you there!

Happy Friday Everyone! Our next story time at the park event is on May 9, 2026! It'll be a special Mother's Day weekend edition where we will come together and recognize our mother's and the importance of all mother's in the world through literacy. Andrae Gonzales will be our guest reader and he is ready to bring the required energy and love to this beautiful story written by J.P. Anthony Williams. We will have fun arts and crafts activities you can gift to your madres and hotdogs cooked on site for lunch + snacks and beverages. A short parent workshop on how to regulate your child's emotions will also be available. Spread the word and see you next Saturday!

Last week we served 300 families in our community ❤️
Huge thank you to our incredible volunteers Jackie, Anel, Gwen, and Gris, superstar parents from Williams Elementary who continue to show up for our families year after year.
Shoutout to everyone who came out to receive food and to lend a helping hand. This is community in action!
Special thanks to Jennifer Lopez and ShaRon Jones, our amazing Spring BC interns, and to Charli from for your continued leadership and support.
Grateful as well for Kailan Carr and your family, volunteers from CSUB and Foothill High School, and everyone else who stepped in to help make this happen.
We truly could not do this without every one of you!
The need remains high in East Bakersfield, so we’ll be back at it again next month. Let’s keep showing up for one another!

Our 3rd Story Time at the Event is this Saturday April 11 from 1-3PM! Join us as we come together for a bilingual reading of My Mind is a Mountain by Cindy Montenegro! This month our guest readers will be Julie Pinales, executive assistant with Amazon and CSUB Student and Super volunteer Darlene Lopez!
What to expect:
Story time for the whole family
Tamales and refreshments
Art activities for families and free play
Free books to take home
Parent workshop on building reading habits and regulating emotions
No portable restroom this month!

Small Seeds, Big Dreams: The Story Time at the Park Series ✨🌱

This month, we read the beautiful pages of The Tiny Seed by Erick Carle. This beautiful story about the tiny seed and its journey through the seasons has been the perfect way to show our little learners the power of perseverance and the magic of nature.

Story Time at the Park aims to bring community together while encouraging lifelong love for reading. Seeing 15 families and 32 kids participating was a powerful reminder that when we plant the seeds of literacy, our whole community blooms.

Huge thanks to all the partners who planted their seed to keep supporting our East Bakersfield community. We want to thank once again for the toys and schools supplies donated and to Jefferson Elementary FACE Center for the face painting, you truly painted a smile on everyone's face.

Shout out to the incredible team: our interns Jennifer and Sharon, to Sya LaManque for leading the parents workshop and to Maria Elena, Judith, and Darlene for volunteering and leading our kid's activities. And last but not least, we want to thank Carlos for helping us with the cleanup and for sharing some of the great pictures and videosq from that day!

Hello East Bakersfield!! ☀️Our monthly food distribution is scheduled for next Thursday, March 19th. We are continuing to work on the transition from paper registration forms to a digital registration process. Stay tuned for further information that will be revealed at the event.

Story Time at the Park was a success!!!! 📚🌳

This month, we shared the beautiful pages of In My Family by Carmen Lomas Garza. Reading this bilingual treasure reminded us how important it is to celebrate our family traditions and create those "core memories" together.

Thanks to all the families who joined us this past Saturday. Story Time at the Park aims to bring community together while encouraging lifelong love for reading. Seeing 19 families and 40 kids participating was a powerful reminder that when we come together, we create together.

We couldn’t have done this alone! Thanks to all the partners who put their seed to keep supporting our community!
Huge shoutout to Firehouse Subs 🥪 for the delicious sandwich they provided, to WSW Foundation for the school supplies and stuffed animals, and last but not least, we want to thank and the Sheriff Activity League for the toys and schools supplies donated.

Thanks to our guests readers from Jefferson Elementary, Mrs. Campas FACE Liaison and Mr. Cavazos FACE Lead Parent who brought their energy and enthusiasm to Story Time at the Park!
