UPDATE: All Rapides Parish public and catholic schools will be closed Friday, December 8.

The power has been restored and phones are back up. I apologize for any inconvenience, we did the best we could for what we had. I will work to find a better back up option for the phone lines should this occur again. Thank you.

Town of Ball, if you have a need to call the police department tonight you will need to call 911. The Police Department was not made aware of electrical maintenance this evening and the building including the police department is without power, since our phone system is computer based it is not working and the line is out. We were not allowed any notice to find an alternate option and we appreciate your patience and understanding. A post will be made when power is back up and we are back to full function. Thank you.

The National Weather Service has stated that Hurricane Harvey's impact in our area is still expected to receive 4.5” of rain spread out over the week. The concern for our area will be wind. Tropical storm winds should reach us Tuesday night and last into Wednesday. Sustained wind speed will be 30 m.p.h.-40 m.p.h. with gusts up to 50 m.p.h. With the saturated soils, it will not take much for trees to begin to fall. I would also expect possible electric outages due to the wind. Our Officers will be out in force checking on our residents during this time.

I just want to tell Ball police just how mush I appreciate their officers.
Early this morning at 3:00 am me and my wife were traveling north bound on HWY 165 when we spotted 2 children ages 3 and 4 walking in the median. We immediately stopped I got out and dialed 911 and got the babies out of the road. Ball pd arrived shortly after and kept the kids save. That man was a hero this morning. Thank God for men like him.

The inmates from Pollock Federal Prison have turned themselves in.

I need to give a shout out to Officer Chance Willis. My 85 year old mother in law lives with us and her health is rapidly deteriorating. We had to call an ambulance this morning around 12:30. Officer Willis was at my house within 5 minutes of being called. He talked to my mother in law as if he'd known her for a long time and helped her feel at ease. Very professional and respectful. God Bless him and all our men & women in blue.
