Andrew Hurd, Assistant Professor of Information & Cybersecurity was our Speaker for February. Professor Hurd brought his knowledge of AI to our Seniors. We appreciate his expertise in sharing knowledge we need. Professor Hurd opened our eyes about the dangers of believing and sharing things on the internet we haven't researched. It reminded me of the telephone game we used to play, by the time it gets to the last person the message has significantly changed. Unfortunately, in this game the sharing of AI information, which sometimes begins with completely false and biased information, can be damaging and hurtful to others if shared.
Seniors who may have relied on the newspapers, TV and now the computer for what's happening in the world around them must now research and verify.
Thank you!

Andrew James Hurd has been an assistant professor in the information technology (IT) and cybersecurity graduate programs at Empire State University since 2021.
