This morning, State Superintendent Dr. Carey Wright and the State Board visited Argyle and Odessa Shannon Middle Schools in Montgomery County Public Schools for stop #4 of their back‑to‑school tour. Thank you to both schools and MCPS for the wonderful welcome—here’s to a year of learning, growth, and success for all!

Save this for the morning commute!
is Serious About Safety near school buses. In 60 seconds, Officers Clayton and Black from remind drivers about the strict rules about stopping for school buses.
Flashing red lights and an extended stop arm mean drivers must stop at least 20 feet from the bus while children are boarding or exiting.
Drivers traveling in the same direction as the school bus must always stop, regardless of the number of lanes or the presence of a center turn lane.
Drivers traveling in the opposite direction must stop unless the roadway is divided by a physical median barrier, such as a grass median, concrete barrier or guardrail.
Remain stopped until the stop arm is retracted, the red lights stop flashing, and the bus begins moving again

Thanks to Maryland DORS' Work-Based Learning Experience program, a St. Mary's County Public Schools student gained valuable hands-on experience through a summer internship at a local hospital.
