Every June we celebrate Pride Month. Pride isn't just a celebration; it's a reflection of LGBTQIA+ history and an opportunity to envision a brighter future for our community. This month we honor community members, advocates, and creators who push the boundaries and work to make the world a better place.

Join us on June 4th for this engaging work designed to improve your comfort level working with the kink community.

Ready to learn more about working with the B**M/Kink community as health professionals?

HOLDING SPACE FOR KINK emphasizes connection, respect, and learning without judgment.

Rooted in trauma-informed care and intersectionality, it examines how stigma has historically shaped B**M communities in healthcare.

Participants will explore how medical, psychological, and social systems have pathologized non-normative sexualities, especially among Black, q***r, trans, and gender-expansive groups, and how this legacy affects assessment, diagnosis, and access to care. The workshop focuses on ethical practice, cultural humility, harm reduction, and client self-determination. It aims to help nurses, social workers, psychologists, counselors, and allied health professionals improve clinical skills, reduce bias, and promote health equity.

Today, Dr. Bryant had the opportunity to meet with Dewayne Queen, Director of the Division of LGBTQ Affairs for Atlanta, and learn more about the incredible work being done to support LGBTQ+ communities across the city.

The visit provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss promising practices, and explore how municipalities can continue advancing equity, inclusion, and meaningful community engagement. Atlantaโ€™s commitment to serving its LGBTQ+ residents was evident, and the conversation underscored the value of collaboration between cities working toward shared goals.

We thank Director Queen for his hospitality, leadership, and generosity in sharing his insights and experiences. We look forward to continuing the relationship and identifying opportunities to learn from one another in service to our communities.

Congratulations to new Commissioner Trystan Sill on their swearing in and becoming a member of the Baltimore City LGBTQ Commission!

The LGBTQ Commission works to advise the Mayor, City Council, and City agencies about issues of concern affecting the LGBTQ community, constructs long-range community projects, fairly and equitably addresses issues affecting Baltimore City's LGBTQ community, and affords LGBTQ individuals access to and inclusion in the services of the City of Baltimore.
