Sauk County Justice, Diversion, and Support consist of 4 programs, Recovery Support Network, Adult Treatment Court, Diversion Supervision Agreement, and the
Educational Navigator Program. Each program has its own uniqueness to it.

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 (𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐔𝐃𝐒)
Alcohol and drug problems are costly for our communities, our health system, and our criminal justice system. Lockin

g people up for non-violent crimes related to drug and alcohol issues is overcrowding our jails and prisons… and mostly importantly, failing to reduce addiction. Smart investments in health and social services through a “diversion” program are a more cost-effective way to help people achieve healthier lives. The difference between RSN and a traditional diversion program, is that the goal is to provide services to people before they get arrested and/or convicted of a drug related crime and subsequently receiving a criminal record. Criminal records can cause lasting harm, such as inability to obtain jobs, housing and stable family relationships. RSN is a program in which a person with an addiction can refer themselves or a family member and come in as a social contact. A person can enter into the program if they are referred by law enforcement in lieu of charges (deflection). Law enforcement has contact with someone that has an addiction and that person tells the officer they want help. Eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Can not be a registered s*x offender
- Must be a resident of Sauk County
- Must voluntarily participate in programming
- Must struggle with drug or alcohol use
- Some violent felony convictions would also make a referred person ineligible

𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 (𝐀𝐓𝐂)
Treatment Court provides individuals the opportunity to change their life circumstances and become alcohol and drug free. This is accomplished by comprehensive assessment and treatment for substance use and mental health diagnosis, intensive supervision, random drug and breath testing, regular court appearances and immediate sanctions and incentives in response to behavior. Honesty and individual accountability are at the foundation of the Treatment Court Program. By providing coordinated substance abuse interventions with judicial oversight, the likelihood of re-arrest for any offense decreases, resulting in safer communities and reduction in crime. Nationally, meta-analysis studies have shown that “75% of drug court graduates remain arrest free at least two years after leaving programming.” These studies have also shown that “drug courts significantly reduce crime as much as 45% more than other sentencing options.” www.nadcp.org

- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must be a resident of Sauk County
- Motivated for treatment
- Qualifying legal offense(s) related to alcohol or drugs

𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦
This program helps Sauk County residents with experience in the criminal justice system to obtain a GED or HSED. It offers free educational help, is tailored to meet your needs, provides free testing with incentives, and works around your scheduled. Sponsored by Sauk County and SSM Health, we specialize in individual tutoring and support to help you get your degree fast. Eligibility Requirements are as follows:
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must be a resident of Sauk County
- Doesn't have a high school diploma
- Must have current or past involvement with the criminal justice system
- Must be motivated to complete the program

𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 (𝐃𝐒𝐀)
The Diversion Supervision Agreement Program is a program for individuals that have been charged with a crime and before they are convicted of the crime a person has a chance to have their charges dropped or lessened if they complete the program. The program can take 9 to 36 months depending on the criminal offense. The participant will go through a risk/need assessment with the JDS Case Coordinator, the risk/needs assessment will assist in determining what is in their case plan. After the case plan has been made referrals will be made to the appropriate entity, otherwise, the participant will work with the case coordinator to prevent them from returning into the criminal justice system. The goals of the program are to promote public safety, reduce prison, jail, and probation populations, reduce prosecution and incarceration costs, reduce recidivism, and improve the well-being of participants and their families. Referral information: Participants must be referred by the prosecutor.
