Property Taxes Due TODAY! (October 17th)

Property taxes for the Town of Barnet are due TODAY (Saturday, October 17, 2026). Payments received after the close of business TODAY (October 17, 2026) will be subject to an 8% penalty and interest at 1% per month for the first 3 months and 1.5% per month thereafter. Postmarks will not be used for determining timely payment. You may remit your payment in any of the following ways:
1) pay in person at the Town Clerk’s Office during special office hours today (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.),
2) pay online at https://barnetvt.org/online-payments/ (service fees apply) before 4:30 p.m.

Property taxes for the Town of Barnet are due on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Payments received after the close of business on October 17, 2026 will be subject to an 8% penalty and interest at 1% per month for the first 3 months and 1.5% per month thereafter. Postmarks will not be used for determining timely payment. You may remit your payment in any of the following ways:
1) mail to Town of Barnet, PO Box 15, Barnet, VT 05281 (mailing is NOT recommended at this time, as postmarks will not be used for determining timely payment),
2) pay in person at the Town Clerk’s Office during office hours (regular hours Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.),
3) drop in “Payments & Documents” drop box at main entrance of Town Hall anytime or
4) pay online at https://barnetvt.org/online-payments/ (service fees apply).
If you would like a receipt via mail, please include the entire bill and a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment. The Town Clerk’s Office will be open special hours to receive tax payments on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

BRIDGE RESTRICTION – TRUCK TRAFFIC - COMERFORD DAM ROAD IN EAST BARNET

Bridge #10 over the Passumpsic River on Comerford Dam Road in East Barnet is closed to TRUCK traffic effective immediately (4 September 2026). This restriction for the benefit of public safety is in response to deck deterioration discovered in an inspection performed by the Vermont Agency of Transportation. The restriction is expected to last several weeks, until temporary repairs are performed. Suggested detour routes on US Route 5 North, Old Silo Road, and Bridge Street. Thank you for your patience.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection - Saturday, August 22

Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District hazardous waste collection event at Barnet Recycling Center on Saturday, August 22 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Please note associated fees will be charged at the time of disposal and the limit for all materials accepted is 15-gallons. Please visit barnetvt.org for more information.
