BARNET TRANSFER STATION/RECYCLING CENTER - SUMMER HOURS 2026
The hours of operation of the Transfer Station/Recycling Center for the period of May 27, 2026 through September 2, 2026 will be as follows:
- Wednesdays: 3-7 PM
- Saturdays: 8 AM- 3 PM

This facility is for the disposal of waste generated by residents and taxpayers within the Town of Barnet. A sticker is required for use of this facility and can be obtained at the Barnet Town Clerk’s Office or at the Transfer Station.

Information about fees and items acceptable for recycling is available at barnetvt.org.

BRIDGE CLOSURE – GARLAND HILL IN WEST BARNET VILLAGE
Bridge #42 on Garland Hill in West Barnet Village (near West Barnet Presbyterian Church) is now closed and will be closed indefinitely. Closure was recommended by Vermont Agency of Transportation due to public safety considerations. Information about timing of re-opening will be announced when it is available. Suggested detour routes on West Barnet Road, Roy Mountain Road, and Harvey Mountain Road. Thank you for your patience.

FUEL DELIVERY - REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
The Barnet Selectboard will accept bids for the delivery of fuel oil, diesel fuel, and propane for the period of June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2028 (two years). Six locations with total annual usage of approximately 4,400 gallons of fuel oil ( #2), 1,400 gallons of propane, and 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel. Proposals will be accepted until May 11, 2026 at 12:00 noon. RFP details available at barnetvt.org.

MOWING TOWN PROPERTIES - REQUEST FOR BIDS - DUE APRIL 13
The Barnet Selectboard will accept bids for mowing the following properties during the 2026 season:
– Palmer Cemetery on County Hill Road
– Stevens Cemetery in Barnet Village
– Public Library building lot
– Town Hall lot
– Fire & Rescue Station lot
– Bimson Drive-Church Street lot
– Town Garage lot
– Several other small parcels
A detailed property list/bid specifications/mowing guidelines is available at barnetvt.org. Please contact the Barnet Town Clerk’s Office for more details by calling 802-633-2256 or emailing [email protected]. Bids must be submitted to the Town of Barnet, PO Box 15, Barnet, VT 05821 or [email protected] no later than noon Monday, April 13, 2026. The Selectboard reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.

DOG LICENSING DUE TOMORROW! (APRIL 1)
All dogs and wolf-hybrids age six months or older must be licensed on or before April 1, 2026. Fees are $11.00 for spayed or neutered dogs and $15.00 for others. A current rabies vaccination certificate also must be presented. Licenses may be purchased 1) by check through the mail (Town of Barnet, PO Box 15, Barnet, VT 05821), or 2) by cash or check at the Town Hall (154 Church St) during normal weekday hours, or 3) via the "payments and documents" drop box at the entrance of the Town Hall.
