Thank you Coach Belichick for an unprecedented run of success here in New England! 6 Super Bowl championships in 9 appearances with 17 division titles. We will never see such a consistent era of dominance like that again. All that being said, I think it is the right time for the Coach and the team to go in different directions.

As an aside, I met Coach Belichick one time when I was a first mate on the Nantucket fast ferry. He was sitting outside the pilot house and as I walked by he stopped me and very politely asked if I could change the tv to a particular lacrosse game that was on. I was happy to oblige. That simple interaction just goes to show his dedication to his work, always on the lookout even headed to his home on Nantucket.

Thank you to Toby Leary and Cape Gun Works for having me on the second half of this evening's broadcast of Rapidfireradio to discuss my State Senate campaign, pending firearm legislation being considered at the State House, and a lively discussion of our 2nd amendment rights and other issues facing the Cape & Islands and the entire Commonwealth. The topic of AMC automobiles even came up, oddly enough! ๐Ÿ˜† My segment begins around the 1:03 mark, but I encourage you all to listen to the entire broadcast and listen live every Wednesday at 4 pm.

As we discussed during the show, it is critical for everyone concerned with government overreach on the 2nd amendment to make your opinions known to your State Reps and Senators. It is the only way to try to stop legislation like this from moving forward until we can get more politicians who have the best interests of the People in office starting November 5, 2024.

Thank you Mid-Cape News for reporting on this important issue. It is critical that our state government is open and transparent with the People of the Commonwealth. Our incumbent State Senator on the Cape & Islands is neither transparent nor accessible, has not supported changes in state laws or policies to increase transparency, and has not spoken in support of an audit of the Legislature. That needs to change, and it will change with your support and vote November 5, 2024! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Republican Candidate for Cape & Islands State Senate Criticizes Democrat Incumbent on Immigrant Issue

(BARNSTABLE) - The Republican candidate for Cape & Islands State Senate is criticizing Democratic incumbent Julian Cyr on the issue of immigrants placed in housing on Cape Cod.

Chris Lauzon, in a statement, accused Cyr of hiding "critical information" and not being transparent with the public.

The Republican candidate said Governor Maura Healey's administration has refused to release timely, comprehensive, and accessible information on exactly how many migrants are being housed across the state.

Lauzon also wants to know where they are being housed, how many services are being provided, the health status of migrants, financial, public safety, and other impacts on local communities.

Lauzon ran unsuccessfully against Cyr in the 202 election.

Barnstable, Yarmouth, and Dennis are all part of the Cape & Islands State Senate District.

โ€œMassachusettsโ€™ state government is often called the least transparent in the country, and state laws and policies bear that out,โ€ Lauzon said in a press release.

He cited a recent effort by State Auditor Diana DiZoglio, who is fighting for an audit of the State Legislature, which has been opposed by leadership in the state Legislature.

Unfortunately, this is likely just the beginning of cuts to critical services we can expect across the Commonwealth and here on the Cape & Islands as a result of decreasing state revenues and the reckless, unsustainable, and unaffordable migrant policy enacted by the current administration and supported by entrenched politicians like my opponent.

We cannot continue to spend hundreds of millions of dollars caring for migrants arriving in Massachusetts, especially as that spending continues to effect our citizens and legal residents in all facets. As we face urgent infrastructure, healthcare, and housing needs in our community, taxpayer money continues to wrongly fund services for migrants. I remain very concerned about the direction our state is heading in as a result of these short-sighted and detrimental policies. We need reforms to the Right to Shelter law immediately and to prioritize the needs of our citizens first, always.

According to the latest from US National Weather Service Boston MA it looks like the Cape & Islands is going to be spared from much of any snow. However, there is plenty of rain and wind in the forecast, and dropping temperatures Sunday evening will make the roads icy, which could be potentially dangerous for Monday's commute. Looks like a good day to stay home, enjoy time with the family and keep warm by the fire. Everyone stay safe out there and make sure your phones are charged in case the power goes out. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒจ๐ŸŒง

Transparency, accessibility, and accountability: these things are all missing with the incumbent State Senator for the Cape & Islands. I have this novel idea that our politicians should work for our interests, not their own and certainly not special interests. The first step to making that happen is to end the State Legislature's exemption from public records requests. What happens on Beacon Hill, in the People's House, should not be a secret. Correspondence to and from the State House should not be a secret. This should not be a right or left issue: this is a right or wrong issue. Secrecy and obfuscation are wrong. Openness and transparency are right. I will fight for what is right every day as your State Senator. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

LAUZON CALLS ON CYR TO STOP HIDING CRITICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE MIGRANT CRISIS FROM THE PUBLIC

Senate Candidate Pledges Full Transparency to Protect and Inform Cape & Islanders

BARNSTABLE, MA - Christopher Lauzon, Republican nominee for State Senate in the Cape & Islands District in 2022 and candidate for the same office in 2024, is calling on incumbent State Senator Julian Cyr and the entire Massachusetts Legislature to make changes to state law to ensure greater transparency and accessibility of public records to concerned citizens.

โ€œMassachusettsโ€™ state government is often called the least transparent in the country, and state laws and policies bear that out,โ€ Lauzon said. โ€œSince the self-inflicted migrant crisis has taken grip on our Commonwealth beginning this past summer, the issue of transparency and obfuscation by the political class has become more apparent to our citizens. Governor Healeyโ€™s administration has refused to release timely, comprehensive, and accessible information on exactly how many migrants are being housed across the state, where they are all being housed, how many services are being provided, the health status of migrants, financial, public safety, and other impacts on our local communities, and what the resolution to this unaffordable, unsustainable, and reckless policy will be, and when it will be resolved. Further, the Democratic-supermajority State Legislature as a body has refused to hold the Executive accountable and has neglected to provide public access to critical information regarding this crisis.

This is but one instance of the lack of transparency on Beacon Hill, which has permeated our government for decades. Chapter 66, Section 18 of Mass. General Law specifically exempts the โ€œgeneral courtโ€ from public record regulations. Our recently-elected State Auditor, Diana DiZoglio, is fighting for a much-needed and long overdue audit of the State Legislature, as is within her Constitutional authority and which has been done in years past, despite the refusal of current legislative leaders to comply. As a former State Representative and Senator, the Auditor has a unique perspective on the need for this audit. The backroom political process and lack of open and transparent access to information which directly impacts the People of Massachusetts is unacceptable, and I will fight for change as the next State Senator for the Cape & Islands.โ€

Lauzon continued, โ€œEntrenched incumbents like progressive Senator Cyr are working for their own interests, rather than the interests of their constituents. His silence has been deafening on constituent concerns regarding the migrant crisis, and he has neither proposed nor co-sponsored increased transparency in state government throughout his four terms in office. I am not a career politician: Iโ€™m a mechanic in a third-generation small business who knows what it takes to make a living and raise a family on todayโ€™s Cape Cod. When elected, I will work for the People I represent, not special interests or bureaucrats. As part of my commitment to the citizens of Cape Cod and the Islands, one of my first pieces of legislation will be to strike out the โ€œgeneral courtโ€ exemption contained in Chapter 66, Section 18, and further clarify public records laws and regulations so that all correspondence, transmissions, and communications, physical or digital, which are received by or sent from the State House, shall be open and accessible to the public in accordance with existing privacy laws. No one is above the law, including our legislature. The time has come for a more open and transparent government in Massachusetts. This should not be a right or left issue; rather, it is a right or wrong issue. Hiding information from the public is wrong. I will fight every day for what is right as State Senator for the Cape & Islands.โ€

As we close out 2023, I want to once again extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported our campaign to bring a much needed change of leadership to the Cape & Islands, both in our 2022 campaign and as we ramp up for a successful run in 2024. I am truly and forever humbled and grateful for your faith and confidence.

Our opponent is an entrenched, well-funded incumbent. I will put the work in on the ground as I have from day one and our entire team will work hard every day. But financial support is also needed. If you can make a year-end contribution to the campaign of any amount, it will go a long way to help ensure that hard work is enhanced with direct mail, yard signs, radio, print and digital advertising, and other critically needed campaign expenditures. Please visit our website to help us reach our year-end fundraising goal:

I was honored to attend a very special funeral service for an American hero today. Charles "Charlie" Connolly was laid to rest today at Massachusetts National Cemetery alongside 78,000 of his brothers and sisters in arms. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Charlie had been experiencing homelessness, living in his car while receiving treatment for terminal cancer. Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center was made aware of Charlie's situation, and fortunately was able to do great work in making sure his final days were as comfortable as possible before his tragic passing December 18th.

Charlie had no family, and no known friends who were able to attend his services. Once again, CIVOC stepped up to ensure that this vet would not be forgotten and alone. They put the word out to all patriots to stand out for Charlie today and honor his life and service to this great nation. I was amazed by the turnout this afternoon and humbled to play a small part in remembering Charlie. It was a beautiful and moving ceremony. And as a result of news reports on this event, a friend of Charlie's was made aware of his passing and was able to attend the service to receive Charlie's flag. His memory will live on ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Thank you to all who worked so hard to get hundreds of grateful members of our community out in remembrance of Charlie, and to Boston 25 News and WCVB Channel 5 Boston for their reporting on this tragic story and the silver lining of today's services. No one who has served and sacrificed for this country should ever be alone or forgotten, especially in their final days. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I was happy to meet with several members of Save Greater Dowses Beach this morning. I have expressed my very serious concerns regarding the offshore wind energy industry, as well as safety and environmental concerns regarding cable landings and power substations in the Town of Barnstable on many occasions.

I am an all-of-the-above advocate when it comes to energy. If a project makes sense economically and environmentally, I will be open to supporting it. I think we need to utilize clean natural gas and hydropower to a much greater degree moving forward. Emerging nuclear technology may prove to be a game-changer as well.

As State Senator for the Cape & Islands, I will always advocate for the interests of the People of the district, not special interests or unrealistic, impractical and unaffordable state or federal mandates. I appreciate your support and vote on November 5, 2024 to bring much needed change and balance back to our state government. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

12/20/2023

It is no coincidence that as our nation grapples with an unprecedented influx of illegal migrants which continues unabated due to the neglect of the federal government to enforce our immigration laws, our state shelter system is at capacity, and Massachusetts citizens are being displaced to house illegal migrants, our state is also facing an unprecedented level of homelessness among our citizens.

It is irresponsible, unsustainable, and unaffordable for the progressive, sanctuary policies of Governor Healey, Senator Cyr and other liberal politicians to continue in this state. These policies have made our communities less safe and have already had a direct cost to taxpayers of half a billion dollars in less than a year. The Governor recently requested hundreds of millions more dollars in a supplemental budget which was granted by our supermajority-Democrat legislature.

The Governor is now projecting nearly a billion more dollars will be needed for this program in FY25. This is unacceptable. This is unaffordable. While we struggle here on the Cape & Islands to find funding for critically needed infrastructure including wastewater treatment, energy and roadway upgrades, and of course our aging Canal bridges, our state government continues to recklessly use our resources for illegitimate purposes. This lowers the quality of life for all of us who call the Cape & Islands home. I call once again for all of our State Representatives and Senators to take a stand, refuse to continue funding shelter and benefits for illegal migrants, and amend the Right to Shelter law and all other relevant policies to ensure our citizens and legal residents are not being left behind.

We need a change in leadership on the Cape & Islands to ensure that happens. We need a State Senator who will be present, not absent. We need a State Senator who will be accessible and transparent, not hidden and secretive. We need a State Senator who will always advocate for his constituents, not special interests. I look forward to providing that needed change in leadership with your vote on November 5, 2024.

12/17/2023

For those of us who live in Massachusetts, especially those of us who were born and raised here, I think sometimes we take our history for granted. We grew up learning about the arrival of the Pilgrims, Plimoth Plantation, and the seeds of American freedom as if it were no big deal. That history happened right here in our backyard. America was born right here in Massachusetts, and we should always be proud of that.

Today marks 250 years since the Boston Tea Party. On December 16, 1773, the Sons of Liberty, including Samuel Adams and Paul Revere, dumped an entire shipment of tea in Boston Harbor in protest of the recently passed Tea Act which imposed taxes upon Tea imported into the colonies from sources other than the British East India Company. As with the earlier Stamp Act, the rallying cry of "No Taxation Without Representation" rang out and galvanized patriots throughout the 13 colonies in defiance of British overreach.

The Boston Tea Party inspired other patriots to take action, and a series of events rapidly followed that ultimately led to the American Revolution and the establishment of our democratic republic, which has persisted through the ages and remains the world's Beacon of freedom and liberty.

Let us never forget the brave patriots who built our nation and to whom we owe an eternal debt. Be proud, sons and daughters of Massachusetts! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Thank you Chatham! I had a great time at the Chatham Republican Town Committee Christmas Party last night. I was glad to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones as well. My friend State Representative Steve Xiarhos and I both spoke about our respective campaigns and the challenges we are facing across the Cape and Islands, as well as the importance of electing politicians who run for office for the right reasons: a passion and desire to serve the People of the district is critical for effective leadership in all levels of government. Looking forward to working with dedicated public servants like Rep Xiarhos to get good things done for the Cape & Islands when I get up to Beacon Hill in January 2025! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Thank you to the Boston Broadside and reporter Kristen Brissette for the excellent write-up in your December issue on our very successful campaign kickoff back in October and some of my policy priorities as the next State Senator for the Cape & Islands. I appreciate the opportunity for an introduction to your readers as we head into 2024! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

12/11/2023

I am proud to stand up for the People of the Cape & Islands District. I have been putting in the work on the ground since first announcing my campaign and I am thankful for the support of so many wonderful people I have been privileged to meet.

My least favorite part about campaigning is asking for donations. However, our opponent is a well-funded incumbent and campaigns need funding to pay for advertising, signs, literature, and a wide variety of other expenses. We ran on a shoe-string budget in 2022 and garnered significant results for what we had. This time, we are going to need a stronger effort.

I would be humbled and grateful for your continued support of our campaign to bring much-needed change to the Cape & Islands. Any amount helps to reach our goal for the end of 2023, no matter how small.

Congratulations to That Kid Jayden Daniels, winner of the 2023 Heisman Trophy!

It's not related to the Cape & Islands, but for those who do not know, I am an LSU alumni and very proud of the athletic and academic legacy of that institution. The Tigers have had an excellent two years under Coach Brian Kelly and I have no doubt that with the winning culture he has built and the deep talent we have on both sides of the ball, another National Championship can't be far behind. Keep up the good work, boys! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฏ

As an aside, I dusted off my diploma for the first time in a while. I went off to college to study archaeology, thinking I was going to be some kind of Indiana Jones. Well, I wound up back on the Cape in the family business anyway. Always be proud of your accomplishments! Everything we do shapes us into who we are, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am very proud to be associated with the winning legacy of Louisiana State University. Let's Geaux!

I have serious concerns about the situation with the migrants housed at Harborside Suites in Yarmouth, which is a potential public health concern. According to reports, we have not been provided with complete and transparent information regarding potential cases of tuberculosis, and that is unacceptable. I call on Senator Cyr to release the information he has received in full so that the public can be aware of any risks to the community. This is not to disparage the work done by Duffy Health Center or any other agency, but we deserve to know exactly what is happening when health and safety are involved. Transparency is essential. Please read my official statement below.

We had a great time last night at the annual Cape Cod & Islands Council Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award Ceremony. There were so many dedicated community leaders in attendance and an impressive group of new Eagle Scouts from all across the Cape & Islands. They will be part of the next generation of leaders. It was a pleasure to see former Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito again as she was honored for her distinguished work in the community with an honorary badge and to meet Cape Cod native, WCVB news anchor and my fellow Hyline-alumni Doug Meehan!

Lieutenant Governor Polito spoke about how she always made it a priority when she served as a State Representative to show up for local community events, including ceremonies performed by local Boy Scout groups. She recognized then and still does today the importance in acknowledging the great work being done on the local level by members of our communities, and giving the people she represented the recognition they deserved. She was in politics for the right reason: to help, serve and honor the People she was elected to represent. That is exactly how all of our State Reps and Senators should conduct themselves, and I look forward to doing so as the Cape & Islands' next State Senator ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

On this 82nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor which launched our nation into World War II, we honor and remember the 2,403 brave Americans killed that day who lost their lives in service to freedom and liberty.
