Batavia Riverwalk The Batavia Riverwalk, built by volunteers from 1990-98, is located along the Fox River in downtown Batavia, IL and is home to community festivals & events

The Batavia Riverwalk was imagined, designed, funded and built in the 1990’s for Batavia using volunteer labor. Eight years of Saturday work days and dozens of fundraisers later, the Batavia Riverwalk stands as our central outdoor community gathering space. Winner of the State of Illinois “Hometown Award,” the Riverwalk hosts both active and passive spaces on the Fox River linear park that is now

maintained by the Batavia Park District. The Batavia Parks Foundation has actively engaged in fundraising and site improvements, adding the Peg Bond Center Bandshell and replacing the wetlands boardwalk. This page is maintained by Britta McKenna, a Riverwalk volunteer and community member, to help keep our community centerpiece as a living attraction for all generations.
