Louisiana Elite Advocacy Force

Louisiana Elite Advocacy Force LEAF was established in July 2019 as a redesigned version of the Lousiana Youth Leadership Advisory Council.

The members at that time decided to re-envision LYLAC, and LEAF was born, to reflect the boards diligent advocacy efforts.

Within the United States alongside other nations including Canada as well as the United Kingdom, Black History Month is a yearly celebration of the accomplishments, heritage, as well as contributions of Black individuals and societies. Following are a few important Black History Month facts.
"Black History Month," which was founded in 1926 through historian Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH), was used as the model for Black History Month. Woodson selected the second week of February to align to the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, two major figures in Black history. During 1976, President Gerald Ford officially acknowledged the holiday and extended it into a month-long commemoration.
Black History Month's primary goal aims to acknowledge and pay tribute to the significant contribution that Black Americans have made to American history, cultural backgrounds, and civilization. It highlights the accomplishments and efforts of Black people while serving as an ongoing symbol of the continuous fight towards equal rights and opportunity.
The ASNLH (formerly the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, ASALH) selects a particular topic commemorating Black History Month yearly. These subjects frequently center on specific facets of Black heritage, culture, or societal concerns.
Black History Month is celebrated nationwide during February with a variety of festivities and excursions. They may consist of seminars, exhibitions of art, film movies, curricular events, including performances of culture. Activities to raise the consciousness and comprehension of Black history are frequently held by local organizations, educational institutions, libraries, even galleries.
Black History Month remains a chance to recognize notable Black individuals who have made significant contributions significantly to civilization. Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Maya Angelou, and Barack Obama represent a few prominent individuals.
Although tradition started in the US, Black History Month has subsequently expanded throughout various other countries. Although it is observed in October in the UK, it is additionally seen in February in Canada.

Let us all take the time to recognize important history.
