💜🇺🇸 National Purple Heart Day 🇺🇸💜

Today, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation.

The Purple Heart is one of America's oldest military decorations, first established by General George Washington in 1782 as the Badge of Military Merit. Today, it is awarded to service members who are wounded or killed as a result of enemy action, representing extraordinary courage and sacrifice in defense of our freedoms.

Here in Baton Rouge, we are proud to be a Purple Heart City. This designation means our city has made a lasting commitment to recognize, honor, and support Purple Heart recipients and their families. It reflects our community's promise to never forget the sacrifices made by these heroes and to ensure they are welcomed, respected, and appreciated.

Today is more than a day of remembrance. It is a reminder that freedom comes at a cost, and that behind every Purple Heart is a story of selfless service, resilience, and courage.

Today we celebrate 236 years of honor, respect, and devotion to duty.

Established on August 4, 1790, the United States Coast Guard is the oldest continuous seagoing service in our nation. Whether conducting search and rescue missions, protecting our waterways, interdicting illegal activity, safeguarding our ports, or responding to natural disasters, Coast Guardsmen answer the call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Coast Guard's motto, "Semper Paratus" (Always Ready), reflects the dedication and professionalism of the men and women who serve in this vital branch of our Armed Forces.

To every Coast Guardsman, past and present, thank you for your commitment, courage, and service to our nation.

As we celebrate Independence Day, this year carries special significance. America is turning 250 years old.

For two and a half centuries, our nation has been shaped by the courage, sacrifice, and determination of those willing to defend the freedoms declared on July 4, 1776. This milestone is more than a birthday celebration, it is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history and to honor the generations of service members who have answered the call to protect our country.

Here in Louisiana's Capital Region, we are fortunate to be surrounded by veterans, active-duty service members, military families, and patriots who continue to strengthen our communities every day. Your service and commitment are woven into the story of our nation, and this anniversary is a reminder that America's legacy has always been built by ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

As you gather with family and friends this weekend, we encourage you to take a moment to remember those who have served before us, those who continue to wear the uniform today, and the families who stand beside them. Freedom has never been free, and every generation has contributed to preserving it.

Thank you for being part of the Operation Baton Rouge community and for helping us connect, support, and celebrate those who have served.

Today, we celebrate 251 years of service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to our nation.

On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress established the United States Army, making it the oldest branch of our nation's military. For two and a half centuries, Soldiers have answered the call to defend our freedoms, protect our nation, and serve with honor around the world.

From the Revolutionary War to today's missions across the globe, generations of Soldiers have embodied the Army Values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.

To all who have worn the Army uniform, thank you for your service and your sacrifice. Your legacy continues to inspire future generations.

On this day 82 years ago, Allied forces executed the largest amphibious invasion in history: D-Day. This operation accelerated the defeat of the N**i regime.

As the ranks of WWII veterans grow smaller, our responsibility grows larger: to remember not just their victory, but what they stood against: tyranny, oppression, and genocide.

The D-Day anniversary reminds us that liberty and democracy are not permanent, instead these principles require constant vigilance and the will to defend them against any threat.

What an incredible day of fellowship, learning, and community!

We want to extend a sincere thank you to all of the veterans and supporters who joined us for our Red, White & Brew: Celebrate 250 event. Participants had the unique opportunity to get hands-on experience in the brewing process, learning how beer is made and even helping brew a special beer that commemorates America's 250th birthday.

A special thank you to Caleb for sharing his knowledge, passion, and time to make this experience possible. And to Bryan Allen for organizing and sharing his wisdom as well!

We also want to thank Cypress Coast Brewing Co partnering with us and creating a limited-edition Imperial Porter in honor of America's 250th anniversary. We are grateful for your support of the veteran community and for helping bring this vision to life.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who made
the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or the start
of summer, it is a day of remembrance for the heroes
who never made it home.

We remember their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We remember the families who carry their legacy
forward every day.

Because of them, we enjoy the freedoms we often take
for granted.

As you spend time with family and friends today, take a
moment to pause and reflect on those who gave
everything for this nation.

🇺🇸 Gone, but never forgotten.
