🇺🇸 National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day – April 9 🇺🇸

Today we honor the extraordinary courage and resilience of the American service members who endured captivity as Prisoners of War (POWs). These brave men and women faced unimaginable hardship, yet many returned home with an unbreakable spirit and deep devotion to their fellow service members and country.

National Former POW Recognition Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who were held captive in conflicts throughout our nation’s history. Their strength, perseverance, and commitment to one another are a powerful example of the warrior spirit.

The POW/MIA flag, often seen flying alongside the American flag, reminds us of a promise: “You Are Not Forgotten.”

Today we recognize and honor all former POWs for their courage and sacrifice.

🇺🇸 If you know a former POW or have a story about one, share it in the comments so we can remember and honor them together.

⭐🇺🇸 Gold Star Spouses Day – April 5 🇺🇸⭐

Today we honor the strength, sacrifice, and resilience of Gold Star spouses—the husbands and wives who have lost their service member in the line of duty.

Behind every fallen hero is a family whose life was forever changed. Gold Star spouses carry forward the legacy of their loved ones while demonstrating incredible courage and strength in the face of unimaginable loss.

The term “Gold Star” dates back to World War I, when families displayed service flags in their windows. A blue star represented a family member serving in the military, and if that service member was lost in the line of duty, the blue star was replaced with a gold star to honor their sacrifice.

Today we remember the fallen and stand beside the spouses who continue to carry their memory forward with dignity and grace.

⭐ To the Gold Star spouses in our community: we see you, we honor you, and we will never forget the sacrifice your family has made for our nation.

✝️🌅 He Is Risen! Happy Easter! 🌅✝️

Today we celebrate the hope, redemption, and promise of Easter. The resurrection reminds us that light overcomes darkness, hope triumphs over despair, and new life is always possible.

He is not here, for He has risen.

May this Easter bring peace to your heart, joy to your home, and renewed faith for the days ahead.

Wishing you and your family a blessed and joyful Easter. 🐣🌸

✝️ Good Friday ✝️

Today we pause to remember the ultimate sacrifice - an act of love, grace, and redemption. Good Friday is a solemn reminder of the price that was paid and the depth of that sacrifice.

It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and faith.

In the quiet of this day, we remember…
“By His wounds, we are healed.”

As we reflect on the cross, may we find peace in His sacrifice and hope in what is to come.

💜🇺🇸 Month of the Military Child 🇺🇸💜

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time dedicated to recognizing the strength, resilience, and sacrifices made by the children of our service members.

Military kids serve too. They move across the country and the world, change schools and friends, and spend long periods of time away from parents who are deployed or training. Through it all, they show incredible courage, adaptability, and pride in their families’ service.

These young heroes are often called the unsung heroes of the military community, standing strong behind the scenes while their parents defend our nation.

Throughout the month, you’ll see the color purple used to represent military children. Purple symbolizes the blending of all service branches, reminding us that these kids support families from every corner of the military.

💜 If you’re raising a military child, were one yourself, or know one in your community, give them a shoutout in the comments and help us celebrate their strength and sacrifice.

🇺🇸 National Vietnam War Veterans Day – March 29 🇺🇸

Today we honor the brave men and women who served during the Vietnam War. More than 3 million Americans served during this difficult chapter in our nation’s history, and many returned home without the recognition and appreciation they deserved.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is a time to say the words that should have always been said:
Welcome home, and thank you for your service.

These veterans endured extraordinary challenges both overseas and when they returned home. Today we recognize their sacrifice, courage, and the lasting impact of their service to our country.

🎖 Local Welcome Home Ceremony
Vietnam veterans and community members are invited to attend a Welcome Home Ceremony in their honor.

📍 Veterans Memorial Park – Gonzales
🕙 10:00 AM

This ceremony is an opportunity for our community to gather, show gratitude, and properly welcome home those who served during the Vietnam War.

If you know a Vietnam veteran, consider bringing them to the ceremony or tagging them here so we can honor them together.

Welcome home, and thank you for your service.

🇺🇸 National Medal of Honor Day – March 25 🇺🇸

Today we honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the men and women who have received the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest military award for valor in combat.

Established during the Civil War, the Medal of Honor is awarded to service members who distinguish themselves through conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty. These heroes represent the very best of our armed forces and the values they defend.

National Medal of Honor Day was designated by Congress to recognize not only the recipients themselves, but also the ideals of courage, sacrifice, integrity, commitment, and patriotism that they embody.

Since its creation, fewer than 3,600 Americans have received this incredible honor.

Today, we pause to remember and reflect on the bravery of those who risked everything for their fellow service members and for our country.

🇺🇸 If you know of a Medal of Honor recipient from your state, unit, or hometown, share their name or story in the comments so we can honor their legacy together.

National Rosie the Riveter Day – March 21 🇺🇸💪

Today we honor the more than 16 million American women who stepped up during World War II to support the war effort at home. While millions of men were deployed overseas, these women worked in factories, shipyards, and defense plants—building aircraft, ships, weapons, and equipment critical to victory.

Known symbolically as “Rosie the Riveter,” these women embodied the famous “We Can Do It!” spirit. Their determination, patriotism, and hard work helped power the Allied victory and permanently changed the role of women in the American workforce.

In 2017, Congress officially designated March 21 as National Rosie the Riveter Day, recognizing the lasting legacy of these trailblazers who proved that women could do the jobs once reserved only for men.

Today we remember their courage, resilience, and the doors they helped open for generations of women to come.

🇺🇸 If you have a mother, grandmother, or family member who was part of the WWII home front workforce, share their story in the comments so we can honor them together.
