The City of Bayfield would like to thank everyone that donated a flag to fly from the Iron Bridge this past weekend.

All flags will be taken down today. If you would like your flag, please remove by 2pm today or contact the City of Bayfield to make arrangements to have your flag returned to you.

The flags that remain unclaimed will be removed by the City of Bayfield and saved for future events.

🚨 IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTICE: MISSING AMERICAN FLAG FROM IRON BRIDGE 🚨

I am absolutely sickened to report that the American flag has been stolen from the Iron Bridge.

This flag was generously donated by our local American Legion—by individuals who served under this flag and risked their lives for our country. To see it treated with such disrespect is incredibly disheartening.

When the flag was hung this past Monday, the response was beautiful. The multitude of people—from the very young to our elders—who stopped to take photos in front of it was astonishing. It quickly became a point of pride for our community.

We will not let the actions of a few put a damper on celebrating 250 years of our great nation.

We are asking for the community's help. If anyone has any information regarding the person or persons responsible for this, please come forward.

📞 Please contact the City of Bayfield Police Department with any tips.

This incident is being actively investigated, and we will continue to pursue it until the individuals responsible are caught. Let's work together to look out for our city and honor those who serve.

The City of Bayfield extends its heartfelt thanks to the American Legion Post 49 for their incredibly generous donation of the new flag now flying from our historic iron bridge.
Because of its impressive size, this beautiful flag can be seen from multiple vantage points all around the city, serving as a prominent new landmark for residents and visitors alike. Our historic bridge is a cornerstone of Bayfield's character, and seeing Old Glory fly high above it is a powerful reminder of our shared history—especially as we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary. We are deeply grateful that the American Legion chose our community as the recipient of this meaningful gift.
