Bedford A Shift was dispatched to a vehicle accident earlier today. Patient was transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation, but was in stable condition. Unfortunately patient’s dog was unable to accompany her therefore, Station 1 crew took responsibility of caring for the dog while family came to pick her up. Huge thank you to our very own Bedford resident, Carla for her generosity, compassion, and assistance with our new adorable 4 legged friend! Another thank you to Marcos Pizza in Bedford for providing us with a delicious snack for our furry friend! Y’alls selfless contribution during this event and to the community is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed!

Bedford Peaceful Protest Planned for Thursday, June 4, 2020

UPDATED DETAILS 06/04/2020 11:26 a.m.

The organizer for this evening's peaceful protest is a local youth of our Bedford community and this is the ONLY protest that the Bedford Police Department is aware of.
Below is the message the organizer shared on social media:
“BEDFORD PEACEFUL PROTEST
When: June 4, 5-7 pm
Where: Bedford boy’s ranch
What to bring: masks, signs, water
What NOT to bring: violence, weapons
Why: to stand with those who have suffered injustice and to raise awareness in our community”

This gathering is meant to be an encouraging time to come together and violence and destruction will not be tolerated. We strongly encourage using designated parking areas and maintain social distancing if attending.

The peaceful protest is for all, which includes our youth.

Be respectful to each other, the park, our residents, and our City.

ORIGINAL POST 06/03/2020 05:48 p.m.

The Bedford Police Department is saddened by the unjustifiable actions that lead to the death of Mr. George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Your Bedford Police Officers remain committed to protecting and serving our community.

We fully support peaceful protests. These are the freedoms that were given to us by the U.S. Constitution. We will continue to protect and honor that right.

The Bedford Police Department has been in contact with the organizer of a planned protest for tomorrow, Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. within the Bedford Boys Ranch Park.

We do not condone any violence or destruction of property.
Let’s take care of one another.

05/18/2020

It is with a heavy heart that the Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival announces the cancellation of it’s Labor Day 2020 event. This may seem early and many will be disappointed, but know that this difficult decision was made with great consideration for the event’s volunteers, vendors, partners, and the community.

The Bedford Blues & BBQ staff along with Bedford City Council decided it is their social responsibility to release these valued partners of any obligation to the festival. Bedford’s mission has always been to better the community, and a full cancellation will afford them the opportunity to focus all efforts on their own success and safety. Moreover, the City savings will go toward funding essential services and help ease the financial burden, now and in the future.

Rest assured, plans continue to move forward on the 2021 Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival.

On a final note, City Council, event staff, and all Bedford employees wish to express a heartfelt THANK YOU, for all the support these last 11 years. Continue to follow Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival on social media as virtual options are discussed as a way to bring everyone the joy of Blues & BBQ in the coming months.

05/06/2020

At the virtual council meeting yesterday, Tuesday, May 5, 2020, the Bedford City Council made the difficult decision to cancel all summer programs and events, including Bedford Splash Aquatics Center, summer camp, 4thFest, and the Bedford Blues & BBQ festival. This will not only aid the City in protecting the health and well-being of the community and staff, but the savings will go toward funding essential services and help ease the financial burden, now and in the future.

City facilities remain closed until further notice. This includes City Hall, the Boys Ranch Activity Center, Senior Center, Old Bedford School, the Law Enforcement Center, and the Animal Shelter; however, City services continue. Animal Shelter adoptions can be made through appointments, water bills can be paid online, permits can be obtained via phone, Neighborhood Services officers will continue to patrol their districts, customer service is still available via phone, and more.

The Library Drive-Up window has reopened and the tennis courts and City parks, including the dog park and linear trails, will open later this week, with restrictions in place. Group sports activities are still prohibited, and all baseball fields remain closed. Information on the Library window hours can be found at www.bedfordlibrary.org.

In parks, the restrooms will continue to be locked, water fountains are still turned off, benches removed to aid in social distancing, and signs remain to remind patrons that the playground areas are not sanitized. Again, please adhere to ALL CDC guidelines with regards to social distancing in the parks and trails and refrain from using the equipment on the playgrounds.

Today is International Firefighters Day.

On May 4, 2020, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) will be joining in the celebration of International Firefighters' Day which began on May 4, 1999, after the deaths of five Australian firefighters in a wildland fire. New this year, the NFFF is asking members of the public to light their homes in "red" on May 4-5 to celebrate International Firefighters' Day. They ask that families share their stories on social media using #ShineYourLight4Firefighters.

Since March 2020, reported from various outlets across the country, over 30 fire and EMS responders have succumbed to COVID-19, NFFF says. Every firefighter who makes the ultimate sacrifice is one too many. Countless others suffer from physical, mental, and emotional injuries.

As the country deals with the current #COVID19 pandemic, it’s important to remember that social isolation and social distancing are not synonymous with disconnection or disengagement. We all have a role to play in promoting connectedness, belonging and resiliency.

If you or a loved one find yourself struggling at home, with loved ones on the front lines, in the hospital, or feel the effects of living alone, please make it a priority to take care of yourself and your mind as we slow the spread #TogetherApart. Take these 6 steps to support your mental health and well-being.

The Bedford Fire Department would like to remind citizens that our crews are still responding to emergency calls 24/7. It is important that you only call 9-1-1 if you have a true or life-threatening emergency. We understand that this is a stressful time for everyone and unforeseen emergencies are going to happen.

Here are a few reasons that you should NOT call 9-1-1: You would like information related to COVID-19, you need a ride to the doctor’s office, you would like to be tested for COVID-19, and or you have mild symptoms of a cold or COVID-19. These are not life-threatening emergencies. Our crews responding to these types of calls could keep them from being available to other citizens who need our help. Thank you for your support!

C shift and the new Engine 152 responded to a reported structure fire 4/1/20. Crews arrived quickly and went to work after reporting smoke showing. Battalion 15 reported possible fire origin on the C/D corner and directed E152 there as well as cutting the breakers. Other crews helped advance the attack line and set up ventilation. There were no known injuries at post time. #fire #firefighter #workingfire @bpffa_local_3587 #duceswild #bedfordtxfd #firefirstculture @working_photos_by_ben_saladino @ Bedford Fire Station #2

The visits must take place in our service area and will continue until the schools reopen and citizens are allowed to return to work. My husband, Stephen Stead was a Firefighter/Paramedic for Bedford Fire Dept (99-06)He worked the same shift with Lt. Keith long, Battalion Cheif Mark Johnson, Lt.
