Yesterday, Animal Control Officer Rachel and Bedford Public Works took a quack at rescuing some ducklings. 🦆

They successfully rescued 10 ducklings from the storm drain in the 2600 block of Woodfield Way. Kudos to ACO and Public Works for a job well done! 👍

Spotlight on our Junior High School SROs

School Resource Officers have one of the most important roles in law enforcement: making a positive impact on youth.

This would have been the last week of school for HEB ISD and we wanted to spotlight our two SROs: Officer L. West at Bedford Junior High and Officer T. Smith at Harwood Junior High.

Being a SRO is more than just being a presence in the hallway or monitoring school dances and football games. It takes a unique officer who has a passion for engaging with students, building lasting relationships, and protecting our youth at a monumental time in their lives.

Leave us, as the kids would say, a “shout-out”, below for Officer West and Officer Smith for their years of dedication of serving and protecting our Bedford kiddos and school staff!

Help stop the spread of germs by making sure you are at least 6 feet (or the width of the horns on an average adult longhorn) apart from one another. 🤠

Gone, but never forgotten.

Although we are facing challenging times, it is good to stop and take a moment to remember the heroes that served in the United States Military with honor. They gave their lives so we might be free. Thank you to the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We would like to introduce our VIPS Volunteer Coordinator, Kim Brown. Kim has been with the Bedford Police Department since 2014, contributing over 5,000 hours of her time since then!

Kim's volunteer heart doesn't stop at being our VIPS volunteer coordinator. She is also currently President of the CFA (Citizen's Fire Academy) Alumni Association, fundraising chair for CPA (Citizen's Police Academy) Alumni, President of the Texas Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association (TCFAAA), a newly approved Board member of the HEB ISD Education Foundation and on the City of Bedford Cultural Commission.

Kim enjoys reading and walking all over the world. One of her favorite quotes is, "Don't wait until you're not scared to do the thing you want to do. Do it scared."

We appreciate all of the hours and dedication you've given the Bedford Police Department and we cannot wait to have you back!

It is with a heavy heart that the Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival announces the cancellation of it’s Labor Day 2020 event. This may seem early and many will be disappointed, but know that this difficult decision was made with great consideration for the event’s volunteers, vendors, partners, and the community.

The Bedford Blues & BBQ staff along with Bedford City Council decided it is their social responsibility to release these valued partners of any obligation to the festival. Bedford’s mission has always been to better the community, and a full cancellation will afford them the opportunity to focus all efforts on their own success and safety. Moreover, the City savings will go toward funding essential services and help ease the financial burden, now and in the future.

Rest assured, plans continue to move forward on the 2021 Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival.

On a final note, City Council, event staff, and all Bedford employees wish to express a heartfelt THANK YOU, for all the support these last 11 years. Continue to follow Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival on social media as virtual options are discussed as a way to bring everyone the joy of Blues & BBQ in the coming months.

Police Memorial 2020

Today is National Peace Officer's Memorial Day. We honor the 307 heroes being memorialized on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial for their courageous sacrifice to their community, and the nation. You will never be forgotten.

"From the front lines and freeways to dark back alleys, police officers stand between us and harm. They are our neighbors, fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers, and they are the ones who run into disasters to save lives."

Thank you to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office for this video tribute to honor fallen officers. Also below is a link to the 2020 Roll Call of Heroes with the names of each of the 307 officers being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.

👮‍♂️ National Police Week 2020 👮‍♀️

Normally, thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world gather in Washington, D.C. to participate in several planned events that honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Although we can't be there this year, we still honor all Law Enforcement Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty as well as give thanks to those who continue to serve and protect.

Last year, Bedford PD and Euless PD Honor Guard traveled to Austin, TX to participate in the Texas Police Week events, that take place prior to National Police Week. This is the Police Unity Tour, organized in hopes to raise public awareness of Police Officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices.

Appreciation post 👋

We would like to make a shout out to our Bedford Animal Control Officers for their rescue this past weekend. We received these photos from a resident whose family cat had gotten trapped in the storm drain. ACOs Stephen and Krissa jumped into action to save the kitty and return it to its family. Thank you both for a job well done!

We respect. We honor. We remember.

This week is National Police Week. This is a time of reflection upon the sacrifice of all the men and women we have lost in the line of duty.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. This year's events in Washington D.C. have been canceled due to COVID-19. Even though the events are not physically taking place, the names of the fallen are not forgotten. There will be a Virtual Candlelight Vigil held on Wednesday, May 13, where 307 names will be read (135 who were killed during 2019, plus 172 who died in previous years).

As a department, we would like to say THANK YOU to all of our Officers, as well as Police Officers across the nation.

Why was Walmart closed early today?
I want to thank Officer Johnson, Officer Wood, Officer Henderson, and Officer Miller for taking the time to stop by our daughter’s surprise Lemonade Stand Birthday Parade Party a few weeks ago. These officers showed up and surprised us all and made a lot of little ones happy that day! Thank you so much, our family appreciates you for this act of kindness and also for your hard work that you all put in for our community!
Thank you, Bedford Police! My friend, Darlene is the creator of The Clubhouse for Special Needs in Bedford. I have personally seen Darlene and her staff go from 8 clients to over 60 and this with be the 3rd location for the Clubhouse in Bedford. This is very exciting for everyone involved and it's a blessing to watch this place keep growing! This church will be the facility in the meantime until they build a big building.♥️ https://www.facebook.com/558556411/posts/10159058183816412/

Can y’all do a bday parade tomorrow
Boomer Jack's in Bedford is not following Social Distancing guidelines. They are well over the 25% capacity everyday. I am surprised this hasn't been stopped yet.
Something has go to give here. Martin Drive from Harwood Jr. High to Cummings Drive has turned into a drag strip the last few months. Ive called yall about it several times but I know yall cant get out quick enough to catch them and they know that as well. It happens between 10pm and 4am weekday nights and Weekend nights. Just now two vehicles raced down Martin WELL OVER 100 mph. I fear that one of these days one of these vehicles is going to have a blow out ( or simply lose control) and crash through a house on Martin Dr. Or some teenager or older person is going to turn onto Martin from a side street not seeing the racing vehicles due to the high rate of speed, and get tboned. This is a tragedy just waiting to happen and eventually it will and it will cost an innocent life. What can be done about this? Id even let yall install a camera on my fence if it would help catch them. Can we please figure out someway to catch these people before they kill someone?
Who do we inform if businesses are open that are not suppose to be and will anything be done?
Does anybody monitor Bedford rd between 183 and forest ridge?? It’s like living on the side of a race track. I work from home and it gets loud. Worse on the weekends late night. Thanks.
Made his day by giving him a sticker haha, thanks!
What happened to this girl did it call for such violence. Did she rob a bank? These cops give good cops a bad name. I hope this woman is alright? Did she need medical attention after she was thrown to ground by four cops she clearly was not being defiant nor was she postering in defiant body language. This is unbelievable . Then shine flashlight long enough to block the video of the boyfriend and then treat her as they should once flashlight is off . This is barbaric and good example to kids on how our officers treat woman traffic violators....there are great officers but they are not in this video. https://www.facebook.com/100046011435878/posts/161671592043221/
