A very important measure in addressing the workforce shortage. “As the mother of a son who experiences severe disabilities, I know firsthand what a difference direct support professionals can make in the lives of those that they work with,” said Senator Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., who introduced the measure and who has a son with cerebral palsy."

The federal government would track the number of direct support professionals for the first time ever under a new proposal designed to help address a shortage of these workers.
