Christos Anesti! Happy Greek Easter from the WGC.

Happy and blessed Greek #OrthodoxEaster holidays!

Orthodox Easter, or ‘Pascha’, is the most sacred and important religious celebration in #Greece marking the resurrection of Christ and the chance of rebirth for mankind.

The customs and rituals of the mystical Holy Week in commemoration of the Passion of Christ and His Resurrection on Easter Sunday remain an important part of modern Greek life, even under the #coronavirus #lockdown. This year we take care of us and our families by observing the rites from afar and following the traditional festive preparations at home.

Here's how to celebrate #GreekEaster in the #StayHome era.

In case you missed it, this is the broadcast of Queen Elizabeth II's 4-min address to the United Kingdom and the British Commonwealth yesterday. We, like so many around the world, found it heartfelt and moving...

"While we have faced challenges before, this one is different. This time we join with all nations across the globe in a common endeavour, using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal. We will succeed - and that success will belong to every one of us. We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again."

Here’s an update on Stella, the Girl Scout who conquered her fears to sell thousands of cookies recently. She’s at it again! This time, sewing her own mask to wear to the blood drive she organized (she‘s 6!). Great job, Stella! We think you’re amazing! ❤️

Hi friends! WYSK co-founder here… this is our fearless friend Stella, age 6. We told her story back in January, which moved so many of you to take action and join "Team Stella". Her mom, Alicia, emailed me late last night with their thoughtful - health and safety - well wishes for our team here in NYC. She also let me know that Stella had been sewing all day, and very creatively used the WYSK Fearless laces we sent her as the string ties for a mask she was making herself. Stella will be wearing her mask today at a local blood drive she organized (note: proper social distancing measures will be practiced, or course). Alicia’s note brightened my day beyond words, and Stella’s selflessness inspires me as she continues to give to others in the most extraordinary ways. I'm grateful to know this incredible mom-daughter dynamic duo.

“Miep Gies, the courageous woman who hid Anne Frank and her family during WWII, spoke eloquently of the importance of 'ordinary' people becoming helpers of those in need in dark times, stating: "But even an ordinary secretary or a housewife or a teenager can, within their own small ways, turn on a small light in a dark room.”

During this challenging time of global pandemic, how have you or people in your community been 'turning on a small light' to help others?”
