Sumpter Young Women's Association The S.Y.W.A. (fondly known as "The Summer Program") was an organization that loved and cherished children. Founded in 1971 by Mrs.

Margaret Carrington, the S.Y.W.A. was an interdenominational, non-profit communtiy organization based in Belleville's Sumpter Township. Composed of volunteer parents and concerned citizens who donated their time and talents, the S.Y.W.A. sponsored informal educational summer activites for youth ages 5-16.
