Thank you to Andrea from the Calhoun County Health Department for joining us last Wednesday!

Andrea spoke with us about the Calhoun County Infant Safe Sleep Pack ’n Play Program, a program the Kiwanis Club of Battle Creek has proudly supported for several years.

We were also happy to present Andrea and the program with a $1,500 donation to help continue this important work in our community.

Last year, the program:
• Distributed 103 Pack ’n Plays to families
• Provided 268 caregivers with safe sleep education

We’re proud to support programs that help keep infants safe and give families the resources and education they need.

Thank you, Andrea, and the Calhoun County Health Department, for the important work you do for families in our community!

It is with deep sadness and sympathy for his family that we announce the passing of our beloved Kiwanis member, Byron K. Hodgson.

Byron, 99, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 3, 2026, at his home in Richland, Michigan.

Byron our longest-serving member, with 70 years of dedicated service to Kiwanis. Byron recently celebrated this incredible milestone—a testament to his lifelong commitment to Kiwanis and to serving his community.

Byron was a past club president, a businessman, a church elder, a musician, a water lover, a Northwestern Wildcat, and, above all, a lover of life.

His presence, friendship, wisdom, and dedication will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest peacefully, Byron. Thank you for 70 remarkable years of service. You will be missed greatly.
