Because of the newly proposed jail, the WREC has recently reached out to Prison Policy Initiative, a criminal justice non-partisan non-profit, to see if we really need a bigger jail and this was their response!

There’s so much more to learn about the jail proposal, and how we can best serve our community, so if you want to learn more please check out the QR code at the last slide or the memo in our bio!

🫧🫧Thank you to the Whatcom Center for Early Learning for inviting us to table at the 1st Inclusion Festival of Whatcom County! 🫧🫧

We’d also like to thank the wonderful community members who stopped by our table to play our trivia games. We hope that it strengthened your understanding of our collective strength and diversity that makes up our community! Shout out to Pickford Film Center and Third Planet Boutique for supporting us and to help spread the word and conversations to build a more equitable future.

The Whatcom Racial Equity
Commission conducted a data analysis last fall on racial disparities within Whatcom County to confront inequities across public systems through informed policy, community engagement, and data-driven accountability, and to recommend equity driven actions that benefit the whole community.

Thanks for spending the day full of color, community, and celebration in Bellingham! 🌈🎨 It was so much fun playing trivia with folks from all across Whatcom County, and we were so glad to learn more about the Holi traditon. We can’t wait for next year, and stay tuned for the next time the WREC tables.
