Good morning! Debbie Bush from the Comsewogue Public Library has shared what her library is doing to serve patrons during the quarantine:

"Comsewogue Public is preparing as we speak, to record Children and Teen librarians reading books aloud and posting on our page or YouTube. We have a very talented librarian that may play a guitar and sing songs. We are trying to put smiles on our patron's faces! Stay well all!"

Thank you for sharing, Debbie! CLASC wants to hear how you are serving your community during the quarantine. Please send your responses to [email protected] and we will post your answers here. Be well, everyone!

Good afternoon! There is still time to register for the Quail Hatching Program that CLASC will be hosting on Friday, January 10th, 2020 at 2:00 pm at SCLS. As quails are a natural tick predator, the quail incubation and conservation project may contribute to controlling the tick population on Long Island. This program will be presented by the Center for Environmental Education and Discovery (CEED).

This program is free for CLASC members and $15.00 for non-members, so please share with any colleagues.

We hope to see you there!

Has your library or department embraced the Makerspace movement in a big way? If so, would you be willing to share your success stories with the CLASC membership?

CLASC is seeking librarians willing to do a brief presentation (5-10 minutes max) on the great makerspace work your library or department is doing. If you have a dedicated Makerspace, that's GREAT, but we'd love to hear from libraries who are rocking this trend even without a fixed space. You'd be among 1 or 2 other librarians sharing your stories at CLASC's Annual Memberhip Meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 6:30 pm at Patchogue/Medford Library.

If you would be interested, email Marybeth Kozikowski as soon as possible at [email protected]

Looking forward to hearing from you and about the great work your library is doing!

Calling all CLASC members!
Are you attending next month's Long Island Library Conference?

CLASC is asking for your help to staff the CLASC table in the Associations Area of the Conference. All you have to do is sit, hand out raffle tickets, answer possible questions about CLASC and be friendly... which comes naturally to our members!

We're looking for two people for each of these time slots:
10:00-10:30 am Break between Sessions I and II
11:30a-12:30p Break between Sessions II and Lunch/Keynote
2:30-3:30 Break between Keynote and Session III

If you're willing to help, reply to [email protected] with your preferred time.

Thank you very much for your consideration!
Marybeth Kozikowski
