I’d like to congratulate Caitlin Donovan on her great win. I’m proud of our little 8 week shoestring campaign and how we escalated the policy conversation in this town. Mrs Donovan deserves the support of everyone in Belmar and I will pray for her family as well as all of those folks who spent time volunteering for her campaign. Congratulations to all of you! Great win, well deserved.

TLDR. Mrs Donovan has run the most negative campaign in the history of Belmar is now feigning umbrage as the non-partisan media covers her back story accurately. Just because you worked at Kleins for a week in 1997 doesn’t negate the fact that you are a DC lobbyist and political operative Caitlin Donovan. Also, please remind your team not to vandalize anything tonight after what you guys did last year. It’s time for a change in Belmar.

Time to end the divisive politics of the Donovan/Buccafusco administration.

As evidenced by this article, this campaign is about whether

1.) Whether lobbyist whose campaign is funded by lobbyists Caitlin Donovan will represent the people of Belmar or her lobbyist colleague donors

2.) Belmar should be intentionally trying to bring in hundreds of units of low income and subsidized housing as Mrs. Donovan and her lobbyist donors believe or whether we should continue to meet our obligations as we have for the last 20+ years.

The choice is clear.

SEAN PATRICK DI SOMMA CALLS ON “DC” DONOVAN TO RETURN CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FROM LOBBYISTS AND BOROUGH ADMINISTRATOR

Belmar, New Jersey – October 31st, 2023 - Sean Patrick Di Somma, candidate for Belmar Borough Council, is urging his opponent, Caitlin Donovan, to return campaign contributions from lobbyists and the borough administrator to uphold transparency and prevent potential conflicts of interest.

Di Somma believes elected officials should prioritize the interests of constituents and maintain public trust. Therefore, he is calling on Donovan to take this step to ensure campaign contributions do not compromise the integrity of local government.

"A large percentage of Mrs. Donovan’s reported donations come from lobbyists and somehow…our borough administrator. Given her plan to jam hundreds of units of low-income housing units into the town which will hurt middle class Belmarsians, it is imperative for Belmar residents to know that their politicians are serving their interests and not the interests of Washington and Trenton lobbyists. Thus far, Caitlin has proven the opposite. I am publicly giving her the opportunity to the shake her earned nickname “DC” Donovan and stand with Belmar by returning tainted lobbyist, and borough administrator funds.
