This week, we wish to highlight Mrs. Gretchen Fjalstad. Mrs. Fjalstad is a 6th and 7th grade Science Teacher in the Middle School. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from UW-Whitewater. Mrs. Falstad is in her first year at Turner but third year overall. Mrs. Fjalstad is the head coach for the Girl’s Co-Op Soccer Team. Mrs. Fjalstad has an energized and active science classroom which features experiments, projects, and hands-on learning. Here are some quotes from her students: “I love that Mrs Fjalstad came to Turner - she is so positive”, “ I am excited for the different activities we will be working on in science”, “ she is really helpful and super kind”, “I can’t wait for the lab stuff we are going to be doing”, “I thought science was going to be boring but we are already having fun”, and “I feel like I am going to rock science class this year”.

What a great first day at Garden Prairie Intermediate School!

Congratulations to our cross country team on their fantastic start to the season! The boys and girls teams competed at their first invitational of the season in Brodhead. The boys team took first place with four individuals medaling including Jakson Tyler, Ryker Hollis, Evan Bue, and Brody Davis. The girls took third with both Ella Bessel and Mady Luety earning individual medals. Go Trojans!

Building momentum for the season ahead! Last Friday, our High School Girls Volleyball program traveled to Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum to experience elite college volleyball firsthand as the #6 Wisconsin Badgers faced off against the #2 Kentucky Wildcats. Featuring 10 top-tier collegiate programs from across the country—including eight ranked in the top ten—the event offered our student-athletes an inspiring showcase of high-level competition. Fueled by the experience, the team is energized and ready to hit the court for a strong season!

Thank you to all the families, students, teachers, coaches, and club sponsors who are joining us in the gym for tonight’s Turner High School's Open House! From meeting your new teachers and exploring student clubs to connecting with our sports teams, the energy in the gym is incredible. We are still here tonight until 7:00! We are so excited to kick off a great year together!

4K Play Camp was a huge success this week! The 4K students had time to play and meet new friends as well as learn safety expectations on the playground. Today, we ended with a special guest appearance from Panda!

Last Friday, 5 Turner students completed the 2026 Summer Rock Internship program by sharing about their experiences and the knowledge gained at the graduation ceremony. Rock Internship is a paid, 6-week summer earn and learn opportunity for upcoming seniors that pairs students with employers in the career pathway students are considering after graduation. It provides an outstanding chance for students to get a head start on their career planning.

Congratulations to Ella Wood, Will Erickson, Wyatt Bennett, Jaxton Winiarski, and Akelalyn Laursen for being selected for this program. The work you completed and connections you made will benefit your futures!

Thank you to Blackhawk Tech, the County of Rock, and the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board for creating and supporting this initiative for area students.

This summer, Turner High School students had the opportunity to participate in Mural Camp! During camp, students led a project to complete a mural in the calm-down room at Powers Elementary. This included planning, designing, and painting a custom mural for the space.

The goal was to create a calming scene that would brighten the room while still showing off some Panda Pride! These are some of the progress photos from along the way, as well as the finished mural.

The students were super grateful for this experience, and we couldn't be more proud of the work they accomplished. We hope the next few generations of Powers students enjoy this mural as much as we enjoyed creating it!

We are proud to share that our District Nurse, Erin Bown, recently had the opportunity to present at the National Association of School Nurses Conference, sharing her expertise on our Thrive and Revive mental health initiative with school nurses from across the country. This was a wonderful opportunity to highlight the great work happening in our district, collaborate with colleagues nationwide, and contribute to advancing student health and the school nursing profession.
