Today I want to take a moment to honor my incredible wife, Jaclyn. On May 28th, she retired after more than 38 years in the dental field.

Over the years, she dedicated herself to caring for others, beginning as a dental assistant, then becoming an orthodontic assistant, and later serving as a treatment coordinator in the front office. Her work ethic, compassion, professionalism, and dedication to both her patients and the offices she worked for are unlike anything I have ever seen.

I know her patients and colleagues will deeply miss her, but she has more than earned this next chapter in our lives. Now she will be able to spend more time with our daughter-in-law, grandchildren, our boys and me, the people who mean the most to her.

I am so proud of you, Jaclyn. I love you, and I truly would not be who I am or where I am today without your love, support, and sacrifices throughout our 33 years together.

Congratulations on your retirement and this well-deserved new chapter. ❤️

I have been listening to your concerns about traffic safety throughout our county including speeding, reckless driving, and careless driving. I want you to know that I hear you, and I am committed to addressing these concerns through increased traffic enforcement efforts and the addition of unmarked, purpose-built traffic enforcement vehicles.

The safety of our communities and the people who travel our roads every day remains a top priority. Our goal is not simply writing tickets, it is changing dangerous behavior, preventing crashes, and keeping families safe throughout Deschutes County.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and the families who carry their memory every day. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today is also deeply personal for me as I remember my father, Eddie Lynn Rupert, who lost his life to cancer caused by Agent Orange exposure after serving in Vietnam. Like so many veterans, he carried the impact of war after coming home.

As we gather with family and friends today, let us take a moment to remember America’s heroes, our veterans, and the loved ones who sacrificed alongside them.

Thank you to all who have served our nation with honor and courage. We are forever grateful for your service, your sacrifice, and your love for our country. 💙

I had the honor of attending the opening ceremonies of The Scotch Golf Tournament supporting Warrior Impact, watching our Sheriff’s Office team participate in a halftime flag football game against Redmond PD during the Oregon Lightning game, and attending the Old Mill Classic Cruz and Sisters Rodeo Association 2026 poster unveiling at Dixie’s in Sisters.

It was also great connecting with Noah Coughlan as he continues his incredible Run Across America journey. His dedication, perseverance, and mission to highlight the stories of Americans across our country is truly inspiring.

One of the best parts of this job is getting out, meeting people, listening, and connecting with members of our community.

Thank you for all your support and positive feedback

I want to sincerely thank the Old Mill Classic Cruz for inviting me to attend their incredible car show yesterday, May 17, 2026, in the beautiful Old Mill District. It was truly an honor to be asked to present the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Choice Award.

Events like this remind me how special our community is. Spending time with so many great people hearing their stories, listening to their thoughts, and learning how our Sheriff’s Office is serving the community is incredibly rewarding. I am always humbled by the appreciation and support our citizens show for the men and women of our office.

I was especially grateful to have my wife there with me to help choose this year’s winning vehicle. After looking at so many amazing cars, we selected a beautifully restored 1969 Camaro SS in stunning Fathom Green as the recipient of the 2026 Sheriff’s Choice Award.

Thank you again to everyone who made this event possible and to all who came out to support such a great community tradition.

Thanks to Don at Summit Bank and Michael Hancock, Executive Director of Bethlehem Inn, I had the honor of attending the 2026 Bethlehem Inn Spotlight on Homelessness fundraiser this week in Bend.
It was an incredibly humbling event that brought our community together to support those experiencing homelessness in Central Oregon. Bethlehem Inn provides a safe place to sleep, warm meals, and critical support services for adults and children in need.
I’m grateful to have met so many compassionate people dedicated to making a difference and building a brighter future for our community. ❤️

I have had the honor of serving the Deschutes County community for 21 years and recently had the privilege of speaking at our local National Law Enforcement Memorial Week ceremony at Brooks Park.

We gathered to remember the brave men and women who put on the badge, answered the call, and gave their lives in service to others. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We also remember the families, friends, and coworkers who continue to carry that loss. Your strength and sacrifice are not forgotten.

This week, and every week, we stand in gratitude for those who served, those who continue to serve, and those who gave everything to the communities they loved.

May we never forget the fallen. 💙

Today, we celebrate all mothers and the incredible love, sacrifices, and support you give every day. A mother’s work often goes unseen, but it is one of the most important and selfless roles in life.

To my incredible wife, thank you for being such an amazing mother to our boys. Your love, strength, and endless support mean everything to me and our family.

To my mom, thank you for your love, guidance, and sacrifices. I would not be where I am today without you.

To all mothers thank you for all you do and the difference you make every single day.

Happy Mother’s Day. ❤️

Servant leadership isn’t a slogan, it’s a commitment.
It means putting people first, listening before leading, and showing up every day ready to serve not be served. Leadership isn’t about rank or title, it’s about service.
Throughout my career, I’ve believed in taking care of people, supporting those who serve, and always putting our community first.
As your Sheriff, I continue to lead by example listening, learning, and working alongside the men and women who protect Deschutes County every day.
Our community deserves leadership built on trust, accountability, and action.
Because leadership should serve the people.
