Thank you WMBF for highlighting this. I would like to clarify that there were two options presented:

1- Adding a 3-4 dollar per month charge to utility bills to sustain the cost.
2- Make cuts to the operating budget we already have.

The article speaks of the fee only but both options should be in it. I am not in favor of adding another fee to utilities possibly beginning next month. The notice is too short and we don’t have time to advertise. I think the best option is to make cuts to the operating budget.

The City of Bennettsville is looking into giving its first responders a pay increase.
