What’s on your mind? Great question Facebook, would love to answer that for you today…
I'm very broken hearted on how many members of this community is behaving and how much national negative attention this had created for our amazing little towns. The country now thinks we are full of hate and I know thats not the case.
I also had no idea how much ugliness was hiding in our town until I decided to run for School Board. I would never would have imagined that volunteering for a position that I thought would be helping to make our schools great would result in threats sent to my personal email and dms. I can handle all the unnecessary personal insults (rubber stamper, ignorant mom, Handmaid, just to name a few) but this has gotten out of hand.
I will continue to do this job. I will continue to put kids first. I want our kids to achieve greatness and want to them to feel safe in their school. I care about their education and I care about the taxes we are paying, contrary to what people (who has never spoken a word to me and hide behind a keyboard) post about me.
I wanted to share some of the facts about the Policy Adoption that happen on Dec 18th.
It was stated that the board snuck this in the be voted in without notice. This first reading on this policy was at the October 16th Meeting. Then it went through the policy committee at least 3 different times, maybe even more as we never had a full committee present so we kept saving it to make sure everyone had a say in the changes. It was then on the agenda on the Dec 4th meeting, we tabled this agenda item because a member felt they didn’t see the first reading and to respect the method of adopting new policies and to give everyone on the board a chance to read the new policy and compare.
At the Dec 4th it was asked where questions and concerns should be sent regarding this policy. NOT ONE email was sent to the policy committee with questions Dec 18th, we voted to adopt the changes. What were these changes? Another great question!
These examples were added in:
(including traits associated with race involving hair texture, Afro hairstyles and protective hairstyles such as braids, twists, and locs); pregnancy or related conditions;
Please compare for yourself.
Thank you for all the messages offering support! And for the admin for taking all the threats to our children and teachers seriously!
