Proposed Project
Virtual open house launched; in-person meeting scheduled

CLERMONT COUNTY (Sunday, May 17, 2026) – The village of New Richmond has proposed a traffic calming project along the U.S. Route 52 corridor, and in order to obtain public comment, the village has opened a Virtual Open House and scheduled an in-person meeting to be held this week.

The village of New Richmond, in consultation with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), has proposed a road diet along U.S. 52 within the village's corporation limits in an effort to improve vehicular and pedestrian safety. A road diet reduces the number of vehicle lanes and uses the extra space for other road users. On U.S. 52, this would include converting the road from four lanes to two lanes, while using the remaining space for a shared-use path and providing safer intersection crossings for pedestrians and bicyclists.

A Feasibility Study to evaluate the changes along the U.S. 52 corridor is under way, and it includes two alternatives: a road diet with roundabouts and a road diet with signalized intersections. The Feasibility Study will be finalized once the public comments from the public involvement process have been included in the study.

More information about the project is available online at New Richmond US 52 Roundabout Project - PublicInput. The web site, which is available 24/7, offers the public the opportunity to review specific project information and provide feedback. Everyone is encouraged to visit and participate in the virtual forum at their convenience; however, comments must be received by 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2026, for feedback to be included in the environmental record.

In addition to the online format, the village will host an in-person meeting to give attendees an opportunity to learn more about the proposed project, ask questions and offer comments:
