****FAQs**** What is "MOPS"? -- MOPS stands for Mothers Of PreSchoolers, and any mom who has a child ages expecting/birth through Kindergarten qualifies to become a member of MOPS! "West River MOPS" is the name of our local organization, and we are officially chartered under the MOPS International organization - more on MOPS International here: mops.org Why MOPS? -- if you are a mom in need of "mom" time, or are interested in meeting new moms who face the same challenges, fears, and exciting milestones in the lives of raising children, MOPS is for you! It is a place of encouragement, where we learn about ourselves, each other, and the world around us. MOPS International says, "Better Moms Make a Better World" and we couldn't agree more! What do we do at a MOPS meeting? -- A typical meeting includes Small Group Discussion time, snacks, a craft or other activity, and a local speaker or video with information on a topic relevant to moms today. We do service projects during the year to make an impact in our local community as well as the larger world. We also have Mentor Moms in our group who are there to encourage you in these early childhood years! And there are various activities planned throughout the year outside of regular MOPS meetings, including family events and mom only gatherings! What is MOPPETS and who is caring for my children while I am at the meeting? -- We provide childcare right on site at the church where we meet. Our MOPPETS workers are a mix of paid and volunteer members from our community who love to spend time with our kids twice a month, and believe in the ministry of providing Moms with some "mom only" time! Many of our MOPPETS helpers are retired and enjoy the extra "grandma" time with the kids! We follow guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy environment for your kids.
