I believe in public education because it prepares Beverly students for the workforce and the future while building character and developing citizenship skills for Beverly's long term economic health.

Did you know that our Beverly Farms, Centerville, No Beverly and Upper Montserrat families gathered to show off their dogs ahead of graduation! Being proud of who you are is what life and school are all about...and that sure is true about our many librarians, children, parents..and dogs who came to the Beverly Farms branch of our public library! There was even ICE CREAM!!

Thanks and here are some great pic's of our families and their wonderful dogs! https://www.facebook.com/beverlyfarmslibrary

A big shout out to all the Beverly kids who won't win an award, won't get an honor, and might barely make it through the school year.

A virtual hug to the moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers that will stick by them as they journey through this school year.

Thank you to the teachers, the administrators, the crossing guards, and the bus drivers around our Beverly Public Schools. We are lucky to have you.

To the kids that didn’t go to the prom, didn’t get a scholarship to college, and didn't get a class with your friends....you are still worthy of a pat on the back and a Facebook post with people talking about how amazing you are.

Some Beverly kids have to work twice as hard as other students just to get a C. Their achievements deserve recognition. Don’t forget those kids. They might just pack your bag at Stop and Shop on Eliot Street.

Perseverance, resilience and a positive attitude about life in general....those attributes sadly don’t get the accolades they deserve.

In a late night vote with hard choices, I voted against the Beverly Public Schools FY27 budget because I believe it is unsustainable and will result in broken promises to employees. What do we say to the 1,012 unemployed people in Beverly as of March, 2026 when the City Council needs to increase the trash fee and inflation is already rapidly climbing? Facing lonely truths can be hard when you are on the losing side in a 5-4 vote in favor of the budget. When is someone going to talk about a $2,000 increase in preK fees? And I do believe that all my fellow Members have student achievement at the top of their minds when they make their decisions. And yet, there was silence. That is not the leadership that former Superintendent Jim Hayes told the Beverly School Committee of 2006 that it needed.

Our Beverly School Committee FY27 Final Budget Meeting is scheduled for 5/20/2026 and more information can be gathered at beverlyschools.org Traffic can be a beast from work, but I'll try to get there a few minutes early -- I hear they'll have a speedway between Waltham and Beverly

I will be hearing from constituents about the FY27 Beverly Public Schools proposed budget at Dix Park in Beverly Farms on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 10-11. Snow or hurricanes cancel; a little dew I can deal with. Dix Park is off Haskell Street in Beverly Farms. Weather is projected to be in the 70's, bright and sunny.

There is a public budget meeting about the proposed school budget on May 20, 2026. The PTOs have done a great job communicating about it and there is information about it on the Beverly Public Schools website.

Legal mumbo jumbo: The May 17 meeting is not considered an Open Meeting because there is no agenda, no quorum of the School Committee will be present and I will not "deliberate." I welcome Ward 6's civic engagement and I've already heard from many of our Ward 6 residents.

Have you joined the PTO yet? Beverly High School PTSO

Hard choices and lonely truths: There is light at Beverly Public Schools for our children. I wish these communities well and I remind our community that I would rather attend Beverly Public Schools than anywhere else. All of these have been discussed at open meeting:

South Hadley's voters decided to eliminate athletics https://www.masslive.com/westernmass/2026/04/south-hadley-voters-say-no-to-9m-11m-overrides-no-to-municipal-light-building.html

Malden voters decided to eliminate up to 60 educator positions
https://www.wgbh.org/news/news-programs/2026-04-01/malden-faces-painful-cuts-after-voter-reject-first-ever-tax-override

With a turnout of 15% of registered voters, the $5.4 million override option fell short by just 124 votes.
