Just under an hour from Billings, MT is a landscape shaped by one of the most significant events in American history.
Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument preserves the site of the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn. Here, Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors defended their homelands against U.S. forces led by Lt. Col. George Custer on June 25-26, 1876.
Walk the grounds and take in the 7th Cavalry Memorial and the Indian Memorial, then follow the 4.5-mile tour road to the Reno-Benteen Battlefield for a deeper look at how the battle unfolded across the landscape.
Please note: The park is currently only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday due to construction. It will return to a seven-day operating schedule beginning July 3, 2026!
