In 1987, clients were able to receive services from the Parent Aide program in a office at Eastside Mental Health Center. Also in 1988, The Exchange Club merged with the local Parents Anonymous Chapter, which brought the establishment of a new program, Positive Parenting groups. In August 1988, the center started doing business as The Exchange Club Family Skills Center. In 2014, we began doing business as the EXCHANGE CLUB CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION CENTER. We offer several Programs designed to Break the Cycle of Child Abuse & Neglect: Positive Parenting Groups-This program is offered 50 weeks out of the year. This group offers educational topics that assist with enhancing parenting skills as it relates to discipline, age appropriate expectations, behavior management, anger and stress management skills. Parent Aide Program-This program is a one-on-one in home parent education program. The Parent Educator works with the family for a minimum of six months to one year providing education to the parent on strengthening the family and how to live a life free of abuse. First Teacher Program- The First Teacher’s Program is a parent education and family support program utilizing the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum. This program serves families throughout pregnancy until their child turns three years of age and provides developmental, hearing and vision assessments. BIRMINGHAM – Birmingham student scholars will be no more than a mile away from a hot meal on school days under a new plan recently announced from Birmingham City Schools.
BCS students can receive a hot meal from any school location in the district, as well as a continental breakfast for the next morning. Students’ names, grade, school and lunch number (same as last year) will be recorded by the cashier on site. Parents of any students with special dietary needs are asked to pick up their meal from their zoned school if possible.
In addition to lunch offerings at all 42 school locations in the district, the following community and church sites have been added to serve students on school days from 11a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
BIRMINGHAM - Los estudiantes académicos de Birmingham no estarán a más de una milla de una comida caliente en los días escolares bajo un nuevo plan anunciado hoy por las Escuelas de la Ciudad de Birmingham.

We had a wonderful day at our 10th Annual Blue Ribbon Bash at Avondale Park on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Center and bring awareness for April being National Child Abuse Prevention month. A huge word of thanks to Cruisers for Christ who hosted our 1st Annual motorcycle benefit ride and all the bikers who rode.
