Today, Alabama mourns the loss of a great man and true conservative leader, Elbert Peters. His roles as a former Party Chairman, long-time 5th District Republican Party Chairman, and founder of the Madison County Men’s Breakfast Club, were instrumental in shaping the Conservative Republican Party in our state. It was a privilege to have known him and worked with him since his time on the executive committee, while I served as the Executive Director and Chairman of the party. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time. Rest in Peace.

The Monroe Doctrine Turns 200
By: Will Sellers

When James Monroe addressed Congress 200 years ago, many assumed his annual message would be limited to legislative initiatives. Since he had no spin doctors to help him explain his position, clarify its broad impact, or narrate its context, it was left to him to simply announce the Monroe Doctrine and let others decide its ramifications.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of a great American patriot! We will miss her. From her obituary: "To know Betty was to be ready for any and all conversations regarding her active involvement with the Grand Ole Party, the Eagle Forum, and many other forms of civic involvement. Betty was not just vocal, she put herself to work. Betty served terms on the Morgan County Republican Executive Committee, the Jefferson County Republican Committee, and the Alabama Republican Party, Policy & Issues Committee. Betty also served as a lobbyist and chaired the Eagle Forum of Alabama, 6th Congressional District. During her lifetime, she packed “survival kits” for the freedom fighters of Nicaragua and was almost arrested in Finland for passing messages of Christianity over the border into Russia. Well into her last years, Betty focused on GOP politics, including making national news for her support of the GOP candidate running for the Dekalb County Sheriff’s office. Betty was a staunch advocate and uncompromising believer until the end."
