Caldwell is a positive person, and he’s not quite sure where that positivity came from. He’s just always been driven. It could possibly be traced back to when Caldwell was 13, when he joined the Fire Service Exploring program.

Good Morning ☀️, Happy Friday!

Birmingham School Resource Officer (SRO) Fikes spent time assisting a student with his class work.

It all started when a special need's student was having difficulties in class. The teacher asked Officer Fikes to intervene. The student told the officer he didn’t want to do his work because he did not like sitting at his desk. Officer Fikes told the student to get his school work and he will help him in the hallway. The student told Officer Fikes he loved him and thanked him for spending time with him.

According to a study conducted in 2019 by The National Institute of Justice, women constitute less than 13% of total officers and a much smaller proportion of leadership positions. In hopes of bringing awareness to this issue and bridging the gap, we are excited to announce our Virtual panel, “Women in Law Enforcement: Breaking Barriers and Bridging the Gap” Monday, August 24, 2020 at 6pm. Join us live as we provide information for the unique challenges that women face in law enforcement, how women in our law enforcement agency mitigate or overcome these challenges and explain how @sheriffmarkpettway continues to make an effort to decrease the lack of women leadership within law enforcement in his office. We look forward to you joining us.

A New Hope

As we are preparing to return to our places of work in phases, all at once, or one person at a time, let me charge you with a thought as we lead this rebellion against the dark forces of Covid-19. Wherever you were before is in the past, and whatever was the typical workday has been destroyed. We have an opportunity to create a new way, a new beginning, a new environment and a new hope!

An old wise leader once said, “When you look at the dark side, careful you must be. For the dark side looks back.”

Moving forward, look at your leadership style and improve it! Look at your relationships and make them better than ever before! Find your best self and live it!! Look to the force, it lies within.

May the Fourth be with You!! May 4, 2020
