Neighborhood revitalization, wealth-building and community engagement is on the horizon. Last month, a $25 million development deal was signed to build affordable homes in the historic Bellview Heights neighborhood in Birmingham. “It’s about closing the racial wealth divide. Owning a home and having a house appreciate in value is just one step toward doing that,” former board chair with NCRC Bob Dickerson said. The Oak Hill project is a partnership between the city and NCRC Housing Rehab Fund, known as GROWTH. Not only will Oak Hill help low to moderate-income families become homeowners, this project also features an agreement with the Birmingham Construction Industry Authority to maximize opportunities for minority and women-owned enterprises and veteran-owned small businesses to participate in the development and construction of Oak Hill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kacBgdK5TpA #RaisingTheBAR #BuildingAlabamaReinvestment #justeconomy #economicjustice #communityreinvestment
