Who won the Election?????
ATTENTION: IMPORTANT INFORMATION I'm not sure if many of you are aware of the situation at Lizard Mound County Park in Washington County WI. The county parks department would like to relinquish their oversight of the mound site park and are trying to force the WI DNR parks to again take over oversight and management of the park. The State has already indicated that it doesn't want the responsibility of the park. I'm guessing because they feel the park would not make them any money without it having a campground etc. The Washington County Parks Department feels it is a financial burden and don't want to allocate resources towards the park that they screwed up with the vegetation management. Right now the park sits their under their management with little upkeep work being applied to maintain the park. Also I have been part of a group that wants to form a "Friends of Lizard Mound County Park" group which has volunteered to help significantly with the parks maintenance through the help also of this organization the Effigy Mounds Initiative. They have put us off and on hold while the park sits in Limbo with them still having oversight but allocating very little funds and management to the park. Many concerned citizens in West Bend and surrounding communities in Washington County are very concerned about the parks future and public access. Please read the article and on the article there is a "sound Off" number and email address that you can call or write your support of the park. ALSO: WHAT IS LACKING HERE?? Where is the Native American Voice in the discuss of this park. Have they even contacted the Ho Chunk Nation in particular? The Ho Chunk have bought and maintained other scared sites such as the Kingsley Bend Mound group on HWY 16 between the WI Dells and Portage. The fact that they and perhaps other Native Tribes in our state have not been mentioned or potentially contacted to me is disturbing to say the least. CALL IN AND VOICE YOUR SUPPORT: Mention the EMI Call the Sound off Line-1-262-513-2641 Email: [email protected]
