🚰 It’s National Backflow Prevention Day! 🚰

At Fjord Water Works, keeping your water clean and safe is our top priority — and one of the most important tools in that mission is a backflow prevention device.

💧 What is Backflow?
Backflow happens when water flows the wrong direction in your plumbing system, potentially pulling contaminants from things like irrigation systems, hoses, or fire suppression systems into your drinking water.

🛡 Why Backflow Devices Matter
A backflow prevention device is designed to stop that reverse flow, acting like a one-way gate for water. Without it, chemicals, fertilizers, or bacteria could find their way into the water you and your family use every day.

Backflow prevention isn’t just good practice — in many places, it’s required by law to protect public health. That’s why proper installation, testing, and maintenance are so important.

Today, on National Backflow Prevention Day, we’re proud to help keep our community’s water supply clean, safe, and compliant.

📞 Have questions about your backflow device or need a certified test? Give us a call — we’re here to help.

💡 What Is a Public Water System?

You might be operating one and not even know it.

A Public Water System (PWS) is any system that:

✅ Has at least 15 service connections, or
✅ Regularly serves 25 or more people for at least 60 days a year

This includes small towns, rural subdivisions, RV parks, businesses, churches, and private properties with shared water systems.

✅ What Is TCEQ?

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulates public water systems to make sure Texans have safe, clean drinking water. If you operate a PWS, you’re legally required to meet TCEQ standards.

🧰 Why You Need a Licensed Water Operator

TCEQ requires certified operators to:

✔️ Monitor water quality
✔️ Submit regular reports
✔️ Perform testing and maintenance
✔️ Handle compliance paperwork
✔️ Respond to issues before they become violations

Failing to comply can lead to fines, notices of violation, or even loss of service.
