Today is International Overdose Awareness Day, a global day to remember those we have lost to overdose, support families and communities affected by addiction, and take action to prevent future tragedies.
Overdose is devastating, but it is preventable. Evidence-based solutions, including access to treatment, compassionate care, and lifesaving tools like naloxone (Narcan), save lives.
Substance use disorder impacts every community, and addressing this crisis requires all of us, health care providers, first responders, policymakers, and neighbors, to work together.
The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs provides resources, support, and access to free Narcan through Caregiver Connection PA. Visit www.caregiverconnectionpa.org to learn more and request naloxone.
Today, we honor those we have lost by continuing to support prevention, recovery, and policies that save lives.
