In the spirit of transparency, the Warrick County Coroner’s Office is releasing our year-to-date statistics covering January 1, 2026 through August 1, 2026.

We believe transparency in public service matters. These numbers belong to our community, and we believe public interest, awareness, and understanding are important parts of identifying areas where education and prevention efforts may be needed.

Statistics are more than numbers on a page. They help us recognize trends, identify concerns, and better understand the needs of the community we serve.

Transparency creates awareness. Awareness creates opportunity for change.

Who knew the Warrick County Coroner's Office would become the hottest pencil factory in town?

What an incredible night at Boonville Police Departments National Night Out! We had an absolute blast with everyone who stopped by our booth. Together, we decorated and handed out over 250 pencils to some very creative kids (and let's be honest, a few competitive adults too!).

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this amazing community event. It's always great to step away from our everyday work and spend time with the families we serve in a much happier setting.

Warrick County's First-Ever World First Aid Day!

Have you ever wished you knew what to do in an emergency? Now is your chance to learn lifesaving skills that could make all the difference.

Join us to learn:
Hands-Only CPR
How to administer Narcan
What to do when someone is choking
Stop the Bleed and more!

Far too often, the Warrick County Coroner's Office hears stories where first aid was delayed because bystanders simply didn't know what to do. That's exactly why Coroner Alissa Enright brought the idea of hosting a World First Aid Day event to the Warrick County Health Department. Together, we're working to give our community the knowledge and confidence to step in when every second counts.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, coach, teacher, or just someone who wants to be prepared, this event is for you.

Help us spread the word by sharing this post, and join us as we make Warrick County safer, one lifesaving skill at a time. We hope to see you there!

Here is a great article that further explains the My Heart Your Heart Pacemaker Reutilization Program that the Warrick County Coroner's Office is now proud to participate in.

The Warrick County Coroner's Office is excited to announce a new partnership with the University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center's Project My Heart Your Heart Pacemaker Reutilization Program!

Most people don't realize that after an autopsy, pacemakers and implantable defibrillators are typically considered medical waste. Once they have been examined as part of the death investigation, they are normally discarded.

Through this incredible partnership, and with authorization from the FDA, the University of Michigan is able to safely refurbish eligible pacemakers and defibrillators and provide them to carefully selected, approved countries where these life-saving devices are desperately needed.

We are proud to announce that the Warrick County Coroner's Office has made its first official donation to this program, and we look forward to many more in the future.

This opportunity would not be possible without the generosity of families who, during one of the most difficult times in their lives, choose to give the gift of life and hope to someone they've never met.

Even after death, a legacy of compassion can continue. ❤️

Thank you to the University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center and the Project My Heart Your Heart team for allowing us to be a part of this meaningful mission.

Today, the Warrick County Coroner's Office had the privilege of hosting the Mass Fatalities Planning and Response for Rural Communities training at the Phoenix Event Center. The course was instructed by Arbie Goings with FEMA and is a collaborative training effort between FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security.

This training marks the first step in updating Warrick County's Mass Fatality Plan, a joint effort between the Warrick County Coroner's Office and Warrick County EMA. EMA brought this important initiative to our office, and we are proud to be working together to ensure our county is prepared for the unthinkable.

We were honored to welcome attendees from across Indiana, with participants traveling from as far away as Delaware County and neighboring counties including Pike, Spencer, and Vanderburgh and many more.

Warrick County was exceptionally well represented, with participants from Newburgh, Yankeetown, Ohio Township, Chandler, Boonville and Skelton Owen Township Fire Departments, along with Warrick County EMA, the Warrick County Health Department, Deaconess Health System, the Warrick County Coroner's Office staff, the Warrick County Sheriff's Office, Warrick County Dispatch, and Titzer Funeral Home.

Throughout the day, participants worked through a realistic mass fatality scenario, discussing coordination, communication, and the unique challenges these incidents present. While we all hope a mass fatality event never occurs in our community, planning and training before a disaster strikes is what allows agencies to respond efficiently and serve victims and their families with dignity and professionalism.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to our partners who continue to invest in preparedness. Today was an important first step in ensuring Warrick County is ready should we ever be called upon to respond to a mass fatality incident.

On behalf of the Warrick County Coroner's Office, we would like to wish everyone a happy, safe, and memorable Fourth of July weekend!

As we celebrate our nation's independence with family gatherings, fireworks, cookouts, and time on the water this weekend, we encourage everyone to make safety part of the celebration. A few simple precautions can help ensure this holiday is remembered for all the right reasons.

Holiday Safety Reminders:
🇺🇸 Leave fireworks to responsible adults and always follow local laws and safety guidelines.
🚗 Never drink and drive. Designate a sober driver or arrange a safe ride home.
🛟 Wear a properly fitted life jacket while boating or participating in water activities.
💧 Stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat, and check on elderly family members and neighbors.
🔥 Keep children and pets a safe distance from fireworks, grills, and open flames.
☀️ Remember that extreme summer temperatures can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, don't ignore the warning signs.

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and the community we are proud to serve. By making smart choices and looking out for one another, we can help ensure everyone returns home safely.

From all of us at the Warrick County Coroner's Office, we wish you a fun-filled, safe, and Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Several members of the Warrick County Coroner’s Office recently attended the annual Dr. David Avolt In-Service Coroner’s Conference in Indianapolis, hosted by the Indiana State Coroners Association. Continuing education is an important part of our mission and ensures our office remains current on changing laws, emerging technologies, and best practices in medicolegal death investigation so that we can continue providing professional and compassionate service to the citizens of Warrick County.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear from and meet Jason White of The First 48, who presented several case studies, as well as receive valuable instruction from Ross Keasling and Matt Wells through case reviews involving fire service operations and fire-related death investigations.

We are especially proud that Warrick County Coroner Alissa Enright, who serves on the Board of Directors of the Indiana State Coroners Association, was invited to participate on the conference’s Expert Coroner Panel. During the question-and-answer session, she joined fellow experienced coroners from around the state in addressing challenging cases and providing guidance to colleagues on complex medicolegal issues.

We would also like to once again congratulate Deputy Coroner Debbie Smith, recipient of the Jeff Stout Service of Excellence Award for Deputy Coroner of the Year. Debbie’s decades of dedication, mentorship, and commitment to the profession have had a lasting impact on death investigation practices throughout Southern Indiana, and we are incredibly proud to have her representing Warrick County.

Thank you to the Indiana State Coroners Association for another outstanding weekend of education, collaboration, and fellowship. Opportunities like these help ensure that the people of Warrick County are served by a team committed to excellence, integrity, and lifelong learning.
