The Bordentown School (Manual Training and Industrial School for Youth),
was a residential high school for African-American students,
located in Bordentown in Burlington County, NJ. It was known as the "Tuskegee of the North" for its adoption of many of
the educational practices first developed at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.

Booker T. Washington handpicked a Harvard-educated Black man to lead the Manual Training School, a world-class boarding school called the “Tuskegee of the North”…his name was William Valentine!

William Valentine led the Manual Training School or Bordentown School for nearly 30yrs where students were taught by graduates of Fisk and Hampton, Yale and Harvard.
