A 20-year-old allegedly shot at a Boston Police officer, hitting the windshield of a cruiser Wednesday night in Dorchester.
Around 9 p.m., officers put out a โofficers in troubleโ call while in the middle of a foot pursuit in the area around Devon Street and Laredo Street, Boston Police said in a statement.
โThe officers further broadcast that the suspect had discharged a firearm in their direction,โ BPD said.
The suspect, who was wearing a light blue sweatshirt, had fled toward Normandy Street, going through peopleโs backyards.
More units arrived to look for the suspect and found someone matching the description on Stanwood Street. The suspect allegedly attempted to flee again by jumping fences and ignoring the officersโ commands to stop, but was apprehended and placed in custody.
After arresting the suspect, Rasiel Joel Carbuccia, 20, of Jamaica Plain, the two officers who were shot at were evaluated on the scene, to make sure they werenโt injured, then transported to a local hospital, police said.
BPD created a crime scene around Devon and Laredo Streets to Blue Hill Avenue and began looking for evidence around the suspectโs flight path.
During the search, BPD said officers found a ghost gun that contained one spent shell casing lodged in the chamber and was loaded with 16 live rounds in a large-capacity magazine. They also said they found a projectile in the roadway.
The officers also saw that the windshield of a cruiser had been hit by a bullet.
Carbuccia is expected to be charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, assault with a dangerous weapon (two counts), possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a covert or undetectable firearm, and trespassing.
Police said he also had an active warrant out of Roxbury District Court for assault with a dangerous weapon.
