Today may be the last day of Canine Fitness Month, but we’re just getting warmed up! Summer training has started and we’re working hard to stay fit — good thing we love every minute of it. 💪☀️

Cheers to the dogs (and their humans) who never stop moving!

Ruby turns 5 today! 🎉🐾

She always loved a good challenge, and this photo shows one of her favorite ones. Finding Ann hiding in a crevice gave Ruby the chance to show off her tenacity and problem-solving skills while working through a complex scent problem.

These are the kinds of scenarios that keep our K9 teams engaged and learning. And of course Ruby is always all in.

Happy birthday to a dog who truly loves the work 💛

Our thoughts go out to the family and community as responders continue their search efforts today.

Have you met our fave bloodhound Otis? He’s pretty entertaining to follow along and he has the best baritone howl on the team 📣 🐾

Using a sock in a baggie from our teammate Lindsay, he locates her trail and lead his handler Evan to her hiding place. You can tell he loves this game! His big ears and the excess skin on his face help him scoop up scent as he works trails along the ground.

Sometimes you need a towel after he covers you with slobbery kisses when he finds you!😆

Our service is always free and we work hard to be reliable and ready to deploy.

We are thrilled to introduce FRRD’s newest certified wilderness air scent team - Erin and Freya🎉🐾 Erin Lundquist Manning! They are ready to help the residents and visitors of Boulder County for many years to come.

It takes a village to certify a new team. Thank you to our amazing evaluators, hiders Boulder Emergency Squad Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and everyone who played a role in supporting our newest team. Erin and Freya have worked incredibly hard to reach this milestone, and their training and long hours would not have been possible without the support of our larger community.

FRRD is an entirely volunteer-based team, and we’re proud to offer our services free of charge to all. We rely on the continued support of our community to keep our operations running smoothly year-round. FRRD teams are dispatched by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

In the foothills, the wind plays by its own rules 🌬️

Ever-changing wind directions turn each training into a new puzzle that changes by the hour, fine-tuning our teamwork and scent skills.

Cheers to hard work, dedicated dogs, and views that remind us why we love it out here. 🐾⛰️

While we all love the snow, most of us don’t love putting on snow booties 👀 But it makes it so we can swim in the deep end ❄️

Stay warm. Stay safe. And be sure to get some fresh air.

Balls, sticks and dogs, what could be more merry?!

Huge THANK YOU to the crew at Piazza’s Italian Restaurant & Sports Bar and Caela Henley-Huddleston for putting together an amazingly successful Christmas Sock Draw Charity fundraiser for FRRD.

And congrats to Ihu and the other
K9s for demonstrating admirable restraint and leaving the balls on the table.

We hope everyone’s holiday season has been full of generosity and good cheer! Happy New Year!!
