On December 30, 2021, we saw a large section of our community hurt by the Marshall Fire in Louisville and Superior. While we do not yet know the full extent of the damage, it is clear that many people are displaced and their lives are altered by this natural disaster. Those affected by this include our colleagues, clients, and friends. We are in the process of putting together resources to assist our members and those seeking help in the coming weeks and months as people recover from this tragedy. In the meantime, we offer our heartfelt appreciation to our emergency responders and send our thoughts and prayers to our community members as they work to recover.

If you are a bar association member in need of help or able to provide help, please reach out to our offices for more information.

A higher percentage of law grads are getting hired by larger firms

Larger firms of 250 or more lawyers are hiring a higher percentage of law grads as class sizes stagnate and law firms grow. Nearly 10% of all law school graduates in the class of 2012—4,600 new lawyers—ended up working full time at law firms with more than 250 lawyers, Bloomberg Law reports in a Big Law Business column. Bagels with the Bar is happening now from 8:30 - 10:00 am! This week we will be featuring baked goods from Vulcan Mine Bakery, courtesy of BCBA member Gregor Macgregor. Named after the Lafayette coal mine, Vulcan Mine Bakery operates under Colorado's Cottage Foods Act, allowing them to source ingredients locally, sell goods to neighbors, and help support the community. All loaves, donuts, cakes, and dry goods are made by hand in their solar-powered bakery in Lafayette, Colorado. They are dedicated to making sure everyone in their community is well-fed by giving food directly to those in need, and donating a portion of their profits to other good causes.
