Veterans Speak CO

Veterans Speak CO Celebrating Veterans, their experiences, talents and accomplishments. Why Is Veterans Speak Important? Veterans Speak CO EIN # 47-4493030

Historically, America’s military veterans have been invisible. Many of our veterans, from World War II on, have kept their memories to themselves, often because there was no public forum for discussion, or because they served in an unpopular conflict. America now recognizes the difficulties many veterans have in returning from current engagements and re-entering our modern society. Veterans Speak

seeks to provide the opportunity for veterans to tell their stories to an engaged public which is curious and respectful of the untold stories of veterans from World War II to the present. It is American history, and important to all Americans, families of those who served as well as future generations. Veterans Speak will encourage our community partners to declare themselves as veteran business owners or recognize their employees who are veterans, and join others in sponsoring a conversation, public discussion, or cultural event to provide a forum to broaden the awareness of the public to the presence of veterans all around us.

General information

Veterans Speak seeks to address the ongoing divide between military veterans and the civilian population about just what military service means. A ‘thank you’ is always appropriate, but seldom a way to make a connection or learn about the many ways our veterans serve. Mass communications and social media often blindside us to the depth of our nation’s involvement in international conflict, and to the meaningful service that our millions of veterans, as individuals, have performed for decades. In November, 2015, Veterans Speak encourages everyone in our community to be involved in providing ways for veterans to share their experiences with us, and to help us understand what it is to serve, through public events such as drama, film, panel discussion, art and photographic displays, Coffee & Conversations, journal readings or poetry and more. Is there a movie about war that gets it right? Is there a drama or comedy that makes a strong point? Are there veterans in the community with collections of photographs from their years of service? Are there veterans who served together in a conflict who could hold a panel discussion to help us understand? Get in touch with Veterans Speak to see how you can get involved. Sponsor an event, or volunteer to help us work with veterans who want to participate. Send a message to: [email protected] Veterans Speak CO EIN# 47-4493030
