Becoming a fully-trained emergency dispatcher here can be a long and tough process for new hires. Some of our field training officers decided to revamp an idea that had been attempted before, but with a whole new plan on ex*****on to allow new hires to have a more focused, isolated beginning phase 1 of their journey to become ready to help the citizens of Wood County as a dispatcher.

We are so proud of the deputies who came up with a plan to put into action to be successful and happy for the new hire graduates of the classroom type training that they just completed over the last 6 weeks! Now they are training inside the communications center!

The annual Wood County Fair starts this SUNDAY! Sheriff Wasylyshyn's yearly tradition of offering FREE GOLF CART SHUTTLE RIDES continues! Call us if you need picked up at your car in the parking lots, or just need a ride around the fairgrounds to enjoy the food and fun! Thanks to Welch's Golf Carts and to all of our volunteers that help make this happen!

Over the past 2 days, we have been able to thank our deputies for their hard work and dedication over the past year with our Employee Awards & Appreciation Luncheons. It was an honor to recognize the outstanding people who make our office stronger every day. Congratulations to those who were recognized for their years of service, lifesaving, teamwork, and going above & beyond in the line of duty. Their dedication, professionalism, courage, and commitment to serving our community do not go unnoticed. Each award represents the values that define our agency. With a 24/7, 365 operation – not everyone is able to attend; but pictured below are those who were able to stop by and eat some free food and get recognized. We are grateful for everything you do to protect and serve our community!

Congratulations to Deputy Glasgow! She is now our 3rd current employee that the office sent to the academy to become a certified peace officer and transfer to the Patrol Division of our office! Deputy Glasgow went to the OSHP academy and graduated last week - starting her road patrol assignment now. Deputy Glasgow has been working in our jail as a Corrections Deputy since 2018. We are proud of you! Congrats Deputy Glasgow!

Our jail garden looks amazing and is starting to take off! Thanks to Deputy Knapp, she loves to improve the garden each year. We save thousands of $$ each summer by growing our own vegetables to use in our jail kitchen for inmate meals, and all the starter plants are donated locally by Bonnie Plant Farm with mulch donated by the county landfill. This year, Deputy Knapp and her inmate workers planted tomatoes, squash, zucchini, jalapenos, sweet potatoes, onions, cucumber, cilantro, peppers, and started a pumpkin patch from seeds. We couldn’t make any of this happen each year without Deputy Knapp and her workers who maintain the garden.
