Line of Duty Death – Weakley County, TN

The members of the Morris Heithcock Lodge 41 Fraternal Order of Police join the Weakley County Sheriff's Office and the entire law-enforcement community in mourning the tragic loss of Deputy Derrick Bonham, Badge #615, who was killed in the line of duty early Friday morning.

Deputy Bonham was just 37 years old and had proudly served the citizens of Weakley County for nearly two years after graduating from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in December 2023. He was known by his peers as a dependable teammate, a dedicated officer, and a man who embodied integrity, compassion, and service.

Beyond the badge, Deputy Bonham was a devoted husband to his wife, Nicole, and a loving father to their three young children—two sons and a daughter, ages 7, 4, and 3. His sacrifice leaves a profound void, and our hearts and prayers are with his family, his fellow deputies, and all who had the honor of serving alongside him.

To support the Bonham family during this unimaginable time, verified donation options have been established. If you are able and willing to help, you may do so using the link below:

https://pbfi.networkforgood.com/projects/295133-derrick-bonham-memorial-fund?

Please note: the only verified funds at this time are the Bonham Memorial at Greenfield Banking Company and the fund established through the Tennessee Police Benevolent Association. Any additional fundraising efforts will be announced only through the official channels of the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office.

We also encourage our law-enforcement partners to participate in the Sea of Blue tribute on Sunday, February 1, 2026, as agencies from across the region come together to honor Deputy Bonham’s life and service.

Sea of Blue Details:
• Date: Sunday, February 1, 2026
• Line-up Time: 5:30 p.m.
• Departure: 6:00 p.m. (prompt)
• Line-up Location: Along Highway 22, directly in front of the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office
• Parking Instructions: Line up in the emergency lane, facing west toward Martin
• Route: Highway 22 → 45E Bypass around Martin → concluding in Greenfield on Front Street

Deputy Derrick Bonham gave his life in service to others. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his watch will forever be honored.

Rest easy, brother. We have it from here.

We are sharing this post from the Nolensville Police Department as we join them in mourning the loss of retired Officer Mike DeLoach.

Officer DeLoach honorably served multiple agencies throughout Williamson County and was a mentor, leader, and steady presence for countless officers during his career. Though he retired just last year, his absence has already left a void—one felt by those he trained, worked beside, and supported.

Mike’s dedication to service, his willingness to guide younger officers, and the quiet encouragement he gave through humor and friendship will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace, brother.

This morning, the Nolensville Police Department received the tragic news that retired Officer Mike DeLoach has passed away.

Mike was a veteran law enforcement officer who honorably served several agencies throughout the county during his career. He was a mentor to many new officers and a steady presence within our profession. His retirement last year left a noticeable void within the department.

Mike was always quick with a smile and usually a joke or two—small moments that meant a great deal to those who worked alongside him. His dedication to service, his mentorship, and his friendship will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace, brother. We’ll take it from here.

🎄✝️ Merry Christmas ✝️🎄

As we celebrate the birth of **Jesus Christ—the true reason for the season—**we’re reminded of hope, peace, and the joy that Christmas brings.

Last night, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit caught a special glimpse of holiday magic as Air 1 spotted Santa flying over Cool Springs in Franklin 🎅✨🚁

Even on Christmas, our deputies and first responders remain on watch—serving, protecting, and caring for our community while many are home with family. Your sacrifice and dedication do not go unnoticed.

May the joy of Christ’s birth fill your hearts, and may God bless our law enforcement officers, first responders, and their families today and always.

Merry Christmas. 🎄🙏

We appreciate the Hickman County Sheriff's Office for recognizing the Destin Legieza Foundation, named in honor of one of our own—Brentwood Police Department Officer and Morris Heithcock Lodge 41 FOP member Destin Legieza—who was tragically killed in the line of duty on June 18, 2020, by a drunk driver.

More than five years later, Destin’s legacy continues through meaningful work that strengthens law enforcement training, promotes roadway safety, and helps protect lives across our communities.

Honoring his name means turning loss into purpose and ensuring his sacrifice is never forgotten.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” — Matthew 5:9

Please take a moment and help us congratulate Sgt. Herzog for his completion of the D.R.E training making him 1 of only 200 in the state. A Drug Recognition Expert (D.R.E) is a specially trained law enforcement officer who identifies drivers impaired by drugs other than, or in addition to, alcohol. DRE training is extensive and standardized, typically consisting of a multi-phase program that includes classroom instruction, field certification, and ongoing recertification. Officers receive in-depth education on pharmacology, the seven categories of drugs, human physiology, and the signs and symptoms of drug impairment. Training also covers the 12-step DRE evaluation process, which includes eye examinations, divided-attention tests, vital signs, and clinical indicators, as well as report writing and courtroom testimony. To become certified, candidates must successfully complete a series of supervised evaluations and demonstrate proficiency in accurately identifying impairment consistent with toxicology results. Sgt. Herzog is currently the only certified D.R.E. Expert on staff. We would also like to thank the Dustin Legieza Foundation, Tennessee Highway Safety Office, and the Cheatham County Sheriffs Office for their partnerships to help improve safety in our community.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office recently witnessed a powerful act of compassion.

Deputies Lizzy Barga and Jonathon Mathis received a $5,000 donation from an anonymous donor who was deeply moved after learning the couple tragically lost their baby near the end of Deputy Barga’s pregnancy.

The donation was presented to the couple by WCSO Sheriff Jeff Hughes, Darren Barnes, Vice President of the Morris Heithcock Lodge 41 Fraternal Order of Police (501(c)(8)), and Ricky Brown, Treasurer of the Morris Heithcock FOP Lodge 41 Foundation (501(c)(3)).

Both Lodge 41 and the Lodge 41 Foundation are incredibly grateful to the anonymous donor whose generosity and compassion provided support during an unimaginably difficult time. We are honored to have helped facilitate this donation while ensuring the donor’s wish to remain anonymous was respected.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Deputies Barga and Mathis during this time of loss.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18

Throwback Thursday | Cops & Kids

Back to the late 1990s—believed to be around 1997—when the Morris Heithcock FOP Lodge 41 was already creating special Christmas memories for children in Williamson County.

These photos were taken at the old Wal-Mart in the Williamson Square Shopping Center, located where Hobby Lobby stands today. Long before big crowds and social media, Lodge 41 members and volunteers were coming together to make Christmas brighter for local kids.

Different times. Same heart.
A tradition of service that continues today.
