‼ Construction on the Highway 59 Widening Project will begin this Sunday, July 23, after 6 p.m.

Phase One of this project will include adding a third southbound lane to Highway 59 from Cypress Bend Drive (the red light at Target) to Fort Morgan Road (Hwy. 180). When complete, this project will add a third southbound lane from Coastal Gateway Boulevard to Fort Morgan Road.

Starting Sunday night, contractors will begin installing traffic control striping and safety barrels. In order to keep two southbound traffic lanes open throughout construction, the contractor will utilize a portion of the center turn lane to shift traffic and create a work safety zone along the roadway shoulders. This traffic shift will occur from the W.C. Holmes Bridge south to Fort Morgan Road.

The contractor anticipates installing the traffic control and striping to be ongoing Sunday night and Monday night. During these two nights, one southbound traffic lane will temporarily be closed.

MARINE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS REQUIRE ANNUAL CERTIFICATION. STAY IN COMPLIANCE AND BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST CASE SCENARIO.

Inspection appointments typically take around 1 hour. Only one technician is usually necessary. During the appointment, your technician will perform a visual inspection, check all electrical connections, check your alarm system, and perform a pull station test. He or she will also measure the weight of the system.
