⚠️ Patient Advisory – Branch Health Clinic Bridgeport ⚠️

Due to recent flooding and a power outage affecting the entire base, Branch Health Clinic Bridgeport is experiencing temporary service disruptions. The pipe causing the flooding has been repaired, but the power outage is expected to last approximately 48 hours.

During this time, we will continue to provide care through only virtual appointments.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to maintain care for our patients under these challenging conditions.

PATIENT ADVISORY | HOLIDAY CLOSURE NOTICE

Branch Health Clinic Bridgeport will be closed to all services from Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26, in observance of the federal holidays.

Due to a recent Executive Order designating the days before and after Christmas as federal holidays, the clinic will be closed. Patients with appointments scheduled during the closure will be contacted by our staff to assist with rescheduling at a later date.

, we remember and honor the National Navajo Code Talkers, whose ingenuity and bravery significantly impacted the Pacific Island-Hopping Campaign of World War II. Their unbreakable code, rooted in the Diné language, helped secure crucial victories for the U.S. Marine Corps.

Participating in every major operation in the Pacific, these teams proved essential in outmaneuvering the enemy with their swift, secure, and impenetrable communications.

Working in pairs, one handled the radio while the other translated and relayed messages in the Diné language, adapting their vocabulary for the complexities of modern warfare with a phonetic code. Their innovative approach ensured secure communication.

Even today, the legacy of the Navajo Code Talkers endures.

NMRTD Bridgeport Prepares Corpsmen for High-Altitude Emergency Care

Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Detachment (NMRTD) Bridgeport hosted a joint Advanced Life Support (ALS) training session with the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center’s Mountain Medicine unit on June 10, 2025, to strengthen combat medical readiness in support of the Joint Force while enhancing partnerships across commands.

“This training was specifically tailored to address the distinctive operational requirements of corpsmen assigned to Mountain Medicine and NMRTD Bridgeport. Due to the remote and austere nature of their duty assignments, these corpsmen must be prepared to independently execute advanced medical interventions when immediate physician support may not be available, making this specialized training essential for mission success and personnel safety...Training at high altitude is not the same as at sea level. Reduced oxygen levels affect both patients and providers, requiring modified assessment techniques and treatment protocols. Add in the potential for delayed evacuation due to weather or terrain, and corpsmen need to be ready to manage patients for extended periods.”
